RELATING TO GENERAL ASSEMBLY – PERMANANENT JOINT CO MMITTEE ON
NAMING ALL NEW BUILD INGS, BRIDGES, EDIFICES AND OTHER STATE
CONTRUCTIONS

It is enacted by the General Assembly as follows:
SECTION 1. Chapter 22-7.4 of the General Laws entitled “Permanent Joint Committee on 1
Naming All New Building, Bridges, Edifices and other State Constructions” is hereby amended by 2
adding the following sections: 3
22-7.4-149. Sgt. William G. Fournier Medal of Honor Bridge. 4
Bridge number 00201, located on US route 1A, Main Street, in the village of Wakefield 5
and which spans over the Saugatucket River in the town of South Kingstown, shall hereafter be 6
named the Sgt. William G. Fournier Medal of Honor Bridge. 7
22-7.4-150. Sgt. William J. Babcock Medal of Honor Bridge. 8
Bridge number 17801, located on RI route 108, Kingstown Road, which spans the 9
Saugatucket River in the town of South Kingstown, shall hereafter be named the Sgt. William J. 10
Babcock Medal of Honor Bridge. 11
22-7.4-151. Cpl. David B. Champagne Medal of Honor Bridge. 12
Bridge number 17601, located on RI route 108, Kingstown Road, which spans over the 13
Run River in the town of South Kingstown, shall hereafter be named the Cpl. David B. Champagne 14
Medal of Honor Bridge. 15

CONTRUCTIONS

This act would rename three (3) bridges in the town of South Kingstown after three (3) 1
Medal of Honor recipients from that town. Specifically, bridge 00201 would be named the Sgt. 2
William G. Fournier Medal of Honor Bridge; bridge 17801 would be named the Sgt. William J. 3
Babcock Medal of Honor Bridge; and, bridge 17601 would be named the Cpl. David B. Champagne 4
Medal of Honor Bridge. 5
This act would take effect upon passage. 6
