RELATING TO EDUCATION -- CURRICULUM

It is enacted by the General Assembly as follows: 
SECTION 1. Chapter 16-22 of the General Laws entitled "Curriculum [See Title 16 1 
Chapter 97 — the Rhode Island Board of Education Act]" is hereby amended by adding thereto the 2 
following section: 3 
16-22-39. Compulsory nutrition, food preparation and cooking courses.     4 
All public high schools in Rhode Island shall require all students to enroll in a nutrition 5 
course, food preparation course and cooking course during any year of their four (4) year student 6 
enrollment. 7 
SECTION 2. This act shall take effect on July 1, 2023. 8

This act would require all public high schools to require students, as part of the curriculum, 1 
to enroll in a nutrition course, food preparation course and cooking course during any year of a 2 
student's four (4) year enrollment.  3 
This act would take effect on July 1, 2023. 4
