RELATING TO GENERAL ASSEMBLY -- PERMANENT JOINT COMMITTEE ON
NAMING ALL NEW BUILD INGS, BRIDGES, EDIFICES AND OTHER STATE
CONSTRUCTIONS

It is enacted by the General Assembly as follows:
SECTION 1. Sections 22-7.4-105 and 22-7.4-111 of the General Laws in Chapter 22-7.4 1
entitled "Permanent Joint Committee on Naming All New Buildings, Bridges, Edifices and Other 2
State Constructions" are hereby amended to read as follows: 3
22-7.4-105. The Roosevelt Benton Youth Assessment Center Roosevelt Benton 4
Center. 5
The building formerly known as the Juvenile Detention Center, and later known and named 6
the "Roosevelt Benton Youth Assessment Center" located in on the Pastore Complex on Cherrydale 7
Court in Cranston, Rhode Island, shall hereafter be named and known as the “Roosevelt Benton 8
Youth Assessment Center.” 9
22-7.4-111. The Thomas C. Slater Training School. 10
The facility known as the Rhode Island Training School in the city of Cranston, consisting 11
of the Roosevelt Benton Youth Assessment Center, a youth development center, and a female unit, 12
shall hereafter be named and known as “The Thomas C. Slater Training School” in honor of Rhode 13
Island State Representative Thomas C. Slater in recognition of his many and varied contributions 14
to the facility and the State of Rhode Island. 15
