| 22 | 22 | | SECTION 1. Chapter 36-4 of the General Laws entitled "Merit System" is hereby amended 1 |

| 23 | 23 | | by adding thereto the following section: 2 |

| 24 | 24 | | 36-4-18.1. Temporary exemption from competitive tests. 3 |

| 25 | 25 | | (a) Notwithstanding any general or special law, rule or regulation to the contrary to include, 4 |

| 26 | 26 | | but not be limited to, ยง 36-4-18, all job applicants applying for a classified service competitive 5 |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | position within the department of human services shall be exempt from completing any competitive 6 |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | test for employment. 7 |

| 29 | 29 | | (b) The exemption from testing shall apply until July 1, 2024. 8 |

| 30 | 30 | | (c) The provisions of this section shall sunset and expire on July 1, 2024 9 |
