A N A C T
VALIDATING AND RATIFYING AMENDMENTS TO THE HOME RULE CHARTE R OF
THE TOWN OF WARREN

It is enacted by the General Assembly as follows:
SECTION 1. In all respects in which the amendments to the Home Rule charter of the town 1
of Warren approved and adopted by the electors of the town of Warren which amendments were 2
adopted and approved by the electors of the town of Warren on November 8, 2022, may require 3
ratification, confirmation, validation, or enactment by the general assembly, but in no other 4
respects, the provisions of said amendments to the Home Rule Charter of the town of Warren are 5
hereby ratified, confirmed, validated and enacted. It is the express intention of the general 6
assembly, by the passage of this act, to give effect to, ratify, confirm, validate and enact those 7
provisions of the said amendments to the Home Rule Charter of the town of Warren which require 8
ratification, confirmation, validation or enactment and by the passage of this act, the legislature 9
does hereby ratify, confirm, validate and enact said provisions, but nothing in this act shall be 10
construed to abrogate or impair the powers now or hereafter granted to cities and towns by the 11
Home Rule amendment and other applicable laws of the State of Rhode Island or those rights 12
retained by said town of Warren in its Home Rule Charter. 13
SECTION 2. If any provision of this act, or the application thereof to the town of Warren 14
or to any person or circumstances is deemed invalid for any reason, the remainder of this act, or the 15
application of such provision to said town or other persons or circumstances shall not be affected 16
thereby, and to this end the provisions of this act are declared to be severable. 17

This act would validate and ratify amendments to the Home Rule Charter of the town of 1
Warren, which amendments were adopted and approved by the electors of the town of Warren on 2
November 8, 2022. 3
This act would take effect upon passage. 4
