25 | 25 | | every year, and only 1 in 10 survive, most likely because they received timely CPR; and 3 |

26 | 26 | | WHEREAS, About 90 percent of people who experience cardiac arrest outside of a 4 |

28 | 28 | | WHEREAS, Given right away, CPR doubles or triples survival rates; and 6 |

29 | 29 | | WHERAS, Cardiac arrest is reversible if it's treated within a few minutes; and 7 |

34 | 34 | | WHEREAS, Rhode Island requires that students are trained in CPR before graduation. 12 |

35 | 35 | | Public funding is essential in order to ensure that all schools have the available resources needed 13 |

36 | 36 | | to establish and implement CPR training programs for high school students; now, therefore be it 14 |

37 | 37 | | RESOLVED, That there is hereby appropriated, out of any money in the treasury not 15 |

38 | 38 | | otherwise appropriated for the fiscal year 2023-2024, the sum of one hundred five thousand 16 |

39 | 39 | | dollars ($105,000) to the RI Department of Health to implement CPR training in high schools; 17 |
