| 24 | 24 | | SECTION 1. Chapter 23-33 of the General Laws entitled "Elevators, Escalators, and 1 |

| 25 | 25 | | Dumbwaiters" is hereby amended by adding thereto the following section: 2 |

| 26 | 26 | | 23-33-12.1. Inspection and registration of private elevators. 3 |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | The chief inspector shall conduct a final acceptance inspection on completion of the 4 |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | installation, modification, or alteration of a private residence elevator before it is placed in service. 5 |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | Upon completion and final acceptance inspection of a private residence elevator, the homeowner 6 |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | shall register the private residence elevator with the department of labor and training. Registration 7 |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | is to be made on a form furnished by the department of labor and training - division of occupational 8 |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | safety and a database of private residence elevators shall be maintained by the chief inspector. 9 |
