DUMBWAITERS

It is enacted by the General Assembly as follows:
SECTION 1. Chapter 23-33 of the General Laws entitled "Elevators, Escalators, and 1
Dumbwaiters" is hereby amended by adding thereto the following section: 2
23-33-12.1. Inspection and registration of private elevators. 3
The chief inspector shall conduct a final acceptance inspection on completion of the 4
installation, modification, or alteration of a private residence elevator before it is placed in service. 5
Upon completion and final acceptance inspection of a private residence elevator, the homeowner 6
shall register the private residence elevator with the department of labor and training. Registration 7
is to be made on a form furnished by the department of labor and training - division of occupational 8
safety and a database of private residence elevators shall be maintained by the chief inspector. 9
SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon passage. 10

This act would provide for a registration process for private elevators to include a database 1
of all private elevators to be maintained by the chief inspector. 2
This act would take effect upon passage. 3
