Lombardi, Felag, Britto, Burke, LaMountain, and Ciccone Date Introduced: March 07, 2023 Referred To: Senate Labor It is enacted by the General Assembly as follows: SECTION 1. Title 28 of the General Laws entitled "LABOR AND LABOR RELATIONS" 1 is hereby amended by adding thereto the following chapter: 2 CHAPTER 60 3 POSTING OF VETERANS' BENEFITS AND SERVICES 4 28-60-1. Posting of veterans' benefits and services. 5 (a) The department of labor and training shall consult with the office of veterans services 6 to create and distribute a veterans' benefits and services poster. 7 (b) Such poster shall, at a minimum, include information regarding the following services 8 available to veterans: 9 (1) Contact and website information for the office of veterans services and the department's 10 veterans' program; 11 (2) Substance abuse and mental health treatment; 12 (3) Educational, workforce, and training resources; 13 (4) Tax benefits; 14 (5) Rhode Island state veteran drivers' licenses and non-driver identification cards; 15 (6) Eligibility for unemployment insurance benefits under state and/or federal law; 16 (7) Legal services; and 17 (8) Contact information for the United States Department of Veterans Affairs veterans 18 LC002054 - Page 2 of 3 crisis line. 1 (c) Every employer in the state with more than fifty (50) full-time equivalent employees 2 shall display the poster created pursuant to this section in a conspicuous place accessible to 3 employees in the workplace. 4 SECTION 3. This act shall take effect on January 1, 2024. 5 ======== LC002054 ======== LC002054 - Page 3 of 3 EXPLANATION BY THE LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL OF A N A C T RELATING TO LABOR AND LABOR RELATIONS -- POSTING OF VETERANS' BENEFITS AND SERVICES *** This act would require employers in the state with more than fifty (50) employees to display 1 a poster containing basic information on veterans' benefits and services which would be created 2 and distributed by the department of labor and training in consultation with the office of veterans 3 services. 4 This act would take effect on January 1, 2024. 5 ======== LC002054 ========
