A N A C T
AMENDING THE ENABLIN G ACT CREATING THE BRISTOL-WARREN REGIONAL
SCHOOL DISTRICT

It is enacted by the General Assembly as follows:
WHEREAS: The enabling act creating the Bristol-Warren Regional School District, Public 1
Laws of 1991, Chapter 330 ("hereinafter referred to as the "enabling act") has not been reviewed 2
since its enactment in 1991; and 3
WHEREAS: There have been many changes in the almost thirty-two (32) years since its 4
enactment, both at the district and state level in regard to education; and 5
WHEREAS: There is no procedure set forth in the enabling act for a periodic review of the 6
enabling act; and 7
WHEREAS: A periodic review of the enabling act is necessary to meet the constant, and 8
changing, challenges of public education. 9
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY AS 10
FOLLOWS: 11
SECTION 1. P.L. 1991, CHAPTER 330, THE ENABLING ACT CREATING THE 12
BRISTOL-WARREN REGIONAL SCHOOL DISTRICT IS HEREBY AMENDED TO R EAD 13
AS FOLLOWS: 14
XVI (I) Process for Amending Regional Agreement 15
The agreement with respect to the formation of a regional school district between the towns 16
of Bristol and Warren may be amended by an act of the general assembly accepted and approved 17
by a vote of the electors of the towns of Bristol and Warren. Said agreement shall be subject to 18

periodic mandatory review wherein the towns of Bristol and/or Warren shall submit to the general 1
assembly, in a report to the general assembly, for approval of any recommended amendments. 2
SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon passage. 3

This act amends the act creating the Bristol-Warren regional school district to include a 1
section mandating periodic review of the enabling act by the member towns with a report to the 2
general assembly for approval of any recommended amendments. 3
This act would take effect upon passage. 4
