| 22 | 22 | | SECTION 1. Chapter 45-24.1 of the General Laws entitled "Historical Area Zoning" is 1 |

| 23 | 23 | | hereby amended by adding thereto the following section: 2 |

| 24 | 24 | | 45-24.1-24. Preservation of historic structures in South Kingstown. 3 |

| 25 | 25 | | In addition to all other powers granted by the provisions of this chapter, the town of South 4 |

| 26 | 26 | | Kingstown is authorized, by ordinance, to establish, upon recommendation of its historic district 5 |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | commission, a list of specified buildings or structures that are deemed to be of historic or 6 |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | architectural value. The town of South Kingstown is further authorized, by ordinance, to add to or 7 |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | delete from the list, and to require that demolition of listed properties be delayed to provide time to 8 |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | evaluate prescribed alternatives to demolition. 9 |
