IN AMENDMENT OF AN ACT PASSED AT THE JANUARY SESSION A.D. 1942
ENTITLED "AN ACT TO INCORPORATE THE WEST ERN COVENTRY FIRE DISTRICT"

It is enacted by the General Assembly as follows:
SECTION 1. An Act Passed at the January Session A.D. 1942 entitled “An Act to 1
Incorporate the Western Coventry Fire District”, as from time to time amended, is hereby further 2
amended to read as follows: 3
Section 13. Vote to approve district merger, consolidation, or transition to municipal fire 4
department or consolidated fire district. 5
(a) Notwithstanding any other law, the District shall not be merged, joined, consolidated, 6
transitioned, or otherwise made a part of a municipal fire department of the Town of Coventry, or 7
consolidated with any other fire district without an all-day referendum and the affirmative vote of 8
the electors of the District in support thereof, said vote to be supervised by the Board of Directors. 9
(b) The all-day referendum shall be called in the same manner as Special Meetings of the 10
District as set forth in Section 6 hereof. 11
SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon passage. 12

ENTITLED "AN ACT TO INCORPORATE THE WEST ERN COVENTRY FIRE DISTRICT"

This act would amend the public law incorporating the Western Coventry Fire District to 1
require a referendum and affirmative vote of the fire district electors prior to any merge or 2
consolidation of the district with any other district or with the fire department of the town of 3
Coventry. 4
This act would take effect upon passage. 5
