RELATING TO FOOD AND DRUGS -- THE GOOD SAMARITAN OVERDOSE
PREVENTION ACT OF 2016

It is enacted by the General Assembly as follows:
SECTION 1. Chapter 21-28.9 of the General Laws entitled "The Good Samaritan Overdose 1
Prevention Act of 2016" is hereby amended by adding thereto the following section: 2
21-28.9-6. Training to administer opioid antagonists. 3
All lifeguards, and park and forest rangers, employed to work in any state or municipal 4
public beach or facility shall be trained in the administration of opioid antagonists, pursuant to the 5
provisions of this chapter. All state or municipal public beaches and facilities, that employ 6
lifeguards, and park and forest rangers, shall maintain and provide a minimum of four (4) doses of 7
the opioid antagonist. 8
SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon passage. 9

This act would require all lifeguards, and park and forest rangers, who work in any public 1
beach or facility to be trained in administering opioid antagonists. The act would also require all 2
state and municipal public beaches or facilities, that employ lifeguards, and park and forest rangers 3
to keep available a minimum of four doses of opioid antagonist. 4
This act would take effect upon passage. 5
