Senate Commemoration 812 Introduced by: Senators Schoenfish, Crabtree, Deibert, Duhamel, Perry, Peterson (Sue), Reed, and Wheeler and Representatives Emery, Greenfield, Hughes, Jordan, Muckey, Uhre‑Balk, Van Diepen, and Weisgram A LEGISLATIVE COMMEMORATION, Honoring Terry Ree, for his service to the state of South Dakota as an entertainer through the comedy -musical duo Williams and Ree. WHEREAS, Terry Ree was born in Huron, raised in Pierre, and was a member of the Crow Creek Sioux Tribe; and WHEREAS, Terry attended Black Hills State College, where he teamed up with fellow student Bruce Williams to form the comedy-musical duo Williams and Ree; and WHEREAS, Terry, with Bruce Williams, brought laughter to an international audience through live performances and television programming over the comedy duo’s career of more than fifty-five years; and WHEREAS, Terry, as part of Williams and Ree, created the film, Williams and Ree: The Movie, which highlighted the excitement of an Interstate 90 road trip through South Dakota; and WHEREAS, Terry Ree used humor to bridge cultures in South Dakota and beyond; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT COMMEMORATED, by the One Hundredth Legislature of the State of South Dakota, that Terry Ree has made a positive difference in the lives of many South Dakotans through his exemplary work as an entertainer through the comedy -musical duo Williams and Ree.
