1212 A RESOLUTION to honor the memory of Archie Douglas Clark of
1313 Maryville.

1515 WHEREAS, the members of this General Assembly were greatly saddened to learn of
1616 the passing of Archie Douglas Clark; and
1717 WHEREAS, Archie Clark was a beloved friend and neighbor who did his utmost to
1818 improve the well-being of all who were blessed to know him; and
1919 WHEREAS, the son of Robert and Pauline Clark, Mr. Clark was a lifelong Blount
2020 Countian, and he bravely served his country as a member of the United States Army and Air
2121 National Guard; and
2222 WHEREAS, Archie Clark worked for several years as a barber and retired from his
2323 position at West Chevrolet, where he was a beloved and respected salesperson; his love for
2424 and knowledge of cars led him to become the first president of the East Tennessee Corvette
2525 Club; and
2626 WHEREAS, Mr. Clark also served his community by visiting countless hospitals, nursing
2727 homes, and shut-ins as a lay pastor, and he was a member of the Jaycees, the Empty Pantry of
2828 Blount County, the Masonic Lodge, and the Blount County Sheriff's Department Senior Citizens
2929 Outreach Program; and
3030 WHEREAS, Archie Clark was known as a man of faith who loved God and was a
3131 servant to all; he was also deeply devoted to his family and always endeavored to remain true to
3232 family values of the highest order; and
3333 WHEREAS, Mr. Clark is survived by his son, Tony (Beth) Clark; grandchildren, Ross
3434 (Mackenzie) Clark and Rachel Clark; several children he claimed as his own; sister, Helen
3535 Buchanan; and countless nieces, nephews, and special friends who were like family; and

4040 WHEREAS, in addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Jane
4141 Broyles Clark; brothers, Clyde Clark and Curtis Clark; and sisters, Joyce Clark Crowder and
4242 Nellie Clark; and
4343 WHEREAS, throughout his many worthy endeavors, Archie Clark distinguished himself
4444 as a beacon of kindness and wisdom; and
4545 WHEREAS, it is fitting that we should pay tribute to the bountiful life of this exceptional
4646 Tennessean; now, therefore,
4747 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDRED
4848 FOURTEENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF TENNESSEE, THE SENATE
4949 CONCURRING, that we honor the memory of Archie Douglas Clark, reflecting fondly upon his
5050 ability to live the examined life with courage and conviction.
5151 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that we extend our sympathy and condolences to the
5252 family and friends of Mr. Clark.
5353 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that an appropriate copy of this resolution be prepared
5454 for presentation with this final clause omitted from such copy and upon proper request made to
5555 the appropriate clerk, the language appearing immediately following the State seal appear
5656 without House or Senate designation.
