A RESOLUTION to honor the memory of Archie Douglas Clark of 
Maryville. 
 
 WHEREAS, the members of this General Assembly were greatly saddened to learn of 
the passing of Archie Douglas Clark; and 
 WHEREAS, Archie Clark was a beloved friend and neighbor who did his utmost to 
improve the well-being of all who were blessed to know him; and 
 WHEREAS, the son of Robert and Pauline Clark, Mr. Clark was a lifelong Blount 
Countian, and he bravely served his country as a member of the United States Army and Air 
National Guard; and 
 WHEREAS, Archie Clark worked for several years as a barber and retired from his 
position at West Chevrolet, where he was a beloved and respected salesperson; his love for 
and knowledge of cars led him to become the first president of the East Tennessee Corvette 
Club; and 
WHEREAS, Mr. Clark also served his community by visiting countless hospitals, nursing 
homes, and shut-ins as a lay pastor, and he was a member of the Jaycees, the Empty Pantry of 
Blount County, the Masonic Lodge, and the Blount County Sheriff's Department Senior Citizens 
Outreach Program; and 
 WHEREAS, Archie Clark was known as a man of faith who loved God and was a 
servant to all; he was also deeply devoted to his family and always endeavored to remain true to 
family values of the highest order; and 
 WHEREAS, Mr. Clark is survived by his son, Tony (Beth) Clark; grandchildren, Ross 
(Mackenzie) Clark and Rachel Clark; several children he claimed as his own; sister, Helen 
Buchanan; and countless nieces, nephews, and special friends who were like family; and

 WHEREAS, in addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Jane 
Broyles Clark; brothers, Clyde Clark and Curtis Clark; and sisters, Joyce Clark Crowder and 
Nellie Clark; and 
 WHEREAS, throughout his many worthy endeavors, Archie Clark distinguished himself 
as a beacon of kindness and wisdom; and 
 WHEREAS, it is fitting that we should pay tribute to the bountiful life of this exceptional 
Tennessean; now, therefore, 
 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDRED 
FOURTEENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF TENNESSEE, THE SENATE 
CONCURRING, that we honor the memory of Archie Douglas Clark, reflecting fondly upon his 
ability to live the examined life with courage and conviction. 
 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that we extend our sympathy and condolences to the 
family and friends of Mr. Clark. 
 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that an appropriate copy of this resolution be prepared 
for presentation with this final clause omitted from such copy and upon proper request made to 
the appropriate clerk, the language appearing immediately following the State seal appear 
without House or Senate designation.
