1212 A RESOLUTION to honor the memory of Savannah Grace
1313 Copeland of Knoxville.

1515 WHEREAS, the members of this General Assembly were greatly saddened to learn of
1616 the untimely passing of Savannah Grace Copeland, a young lady who had accomplished a
1717 great deal in her thirteen years on Earth; and
1818 WHEREAS, the cherished daughter of Michael and Amanda Copeland, Savannah dearly
1919 loved her family and friends, and she possessed an appreciation and affinity for art, especially
2020 drawing; and
2121 WHEREAS, renowned for her beautiful smile that "lit up the room," Savannah Copeland
2222 attended Powell Middle School, where she was a gifted student and an accomplished athlete,
2323 excelling in gymnastics, karate, and cheerleading; and
2424 WHEREAS, she planned to study forensic anthropology at the University of Tennessee;
2525 and
2626 WHEREAS, Savannah was a longtime member of Powell United Methodist Church; and
2727 WHEREAS, Savannah Copeland is survived by her loving parents, Michael and Amanda
2828 Copeland; brother, Britton Burchell, and twin brother, Kasey Copeland; great-grandfather,
2929 Robert Baker; grandparents, Barbara Copeland, Shirley Patrick, and George and Sidney
3030 Copeland; aunt, Laurie (Paul) Hunley; uncle, Scott (Laura) Copeland; cousins, Chris Hunley and
3131 April Hunley; and extended family members, Alicia Anderson and Allen Burchell; and
3232 WHEREAS, she was preceded in death by her grandfather, Wayne Patrick, and
3333 grandmother, Sharon Patrick; and
3434 WHEREAS, although her life was all too brief, Savannah Copeland leaves behind an
3535 indelible legacy as a daughter, sister, granddaughter, niece, and friend, and she will be forever
3636 missed by everyone who knew and loved her; and

4141 WHEREAS, it is fitting that the members of this General Assembly should remember
4242 Savannah Copeland and commemorate her many accomplishments; now, therefore,
4343 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDRED
4444 FOURTEENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF TENNESSEE, THE SENATE
4545 CONCURRING, that we honor the memory of Savannah Grace Copeland, giving thanks for her
4646 bountiful life and the joy she brought to her family and friends.
4747 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that we express our sympathy and offer our condolences
4848 to the family of Savannah Copeland.
4949 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that an appropriate copy of this resolution be prepared
5050 for presentation with this final clause omitted from such copy and upon proper request made to
5151 the appropriate clerk, the language appearing immediately following the State seal appear
5252 without House or Senate designation.
