1212 A RESOLUTION to recognize Lieutenant Wesley Neely of the Mt.
1313 Juliet Police Department on the occasion of his
1414 retirement.

1616 WHEREAS, it is appropriate that the members of this General Assembly should honor
1717 those citizens who have performed with uncommon devotion and enthusiasm throughout their
1818 careers in law enforcement; and
1919 WHEREAS, Lieutenant Wesley Neely of the Mt. Juliet Police Department is one such
2020 estimable individual, who has devoted his life to the preservation of law and order and the
2121 protection of his fellow citizens and is taking his much-deserved retirement after thirty-seven
2222 years of service; and
2323 WHEREAS, Lieutenant Neely joined the Mt. Juliet Police Department in 1987 and was
2424 one of only six employees at the time; and
2525 WHEREAS, throughout his distinguished career, Lieutenant Wesley Neely has served in
2626 numerous capacities, including as a detective, youth guidance officer, training officer, and patrol
2727 division commander; and
2828 WHEREAS, known for his commitment to community policing, Lieutenant Neely
2929 established strong relationships with local residents, businesses, and leaders, earning the
3030 affectionate nickname "Officer Friendly" during his time with students at Mt. Juliet High School;

3232 WHEREAS, his professional accomplishments aside, Lieutenant Wesley Neely is most
3333 proud of his role as a husband and father; and
3434 WHEREAS, Lieutenant Neely exemplifies the spirit and allegiance to family and
3535 community that are characteristic of a true Tennessean; and

4040 WHEREAS, for nearly four decades, Lieutenant Wesley Neely has demonstrated the
4141 utmost professionalism, ability, and integrity, winning the sincere respect and admiration of his
4242 colleagues, his fellow officers, and a grateful public; now, therefore,
4343 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDRED
4444 FOURTEENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF TENNESSEE, THE SENATE
4545 CONCURRING, that we hereby honor and commend Lieutenant Wesley Neely upon the
4646 occasion of his retirement, extending our gratitude for his many years of dedicated service to
4747 the Mt. Juliet Police Department and our best wishes for success in all his future endeavors.
4848 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that an appropriate copy of this resolution be prepared
4949 for presentation with this final clause omitted from such copy and upon proper request made to
5050 the appropriate clerk, the language appearing immediately following the State seal appear
5151 without House or Senate designation.
