<BillNo> <Sponsor> HOUSE JOINT RESOLUTION 71 By Lynn HJR0071 000814 - 1 - A RESOLUTION to recognize Lieutenant Wesley Neely of the Mt. Juliet Police Department on the occasion of his retirement. WHEREAS, it is appropriate that the members of this General Assembly should honor those citizens who have performed with uncommon devotion and enthusiasm throughout their careers in law enforcement; and WHEREAS, Lieutenant Wesley Neely of the Mt. Juliet Police Department is one such estimable individual, who has devoted his life to the preservation of law and order and the protection of his fellow citizens and is taking his much-deserved retirement after thirty-seven years of service; and WHEREAS, Lieutenant Neely joined the Mt. Juliet Police Department in 1987 and was one of only six employees at the time; and WHEREAS, throughout his distinguished career, Lieutenant Wesley Neely has served in numerous capacities, including as a detective, youth guidance officer, training officer, and patrol division commander; and WHEREAS, known for his commitment to community policing, Lieutenant Neely established strong relationships with local residents, businesses, and leaders, earning the affectionate nickname "Officer Friendly" during his time with students at Mt. Juliet High School; and WHEREAS, his professional accomplishments aside, Lieutenant Wesley Neely is most proud of his role as a husband and father; and WHEREAS, Lieutenant Neely exemplifies the spirit and allegiance to family and community that are characteristic of a true Tennessean; and - 2 - 000814 WHEREAS, for nearly four decades, Lieutenant Wesley Neely has demonstrated the utmost professionalism, ability, and integrity, winning the sincere respect and admiration of his colleagues, his fellow officers, and a grateful public; now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTEENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF TENNESSEE, THE SENATE CONCURRING, that we hereby honor and commend Lieutenant Wesley Neely upon the occasion of his retirement, extending our gratitude for his many years of dedicated service to the Mt. Juliet Police Department and our best wishes for success in all his future endeavors. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that an appropriate copy of this resolution be prepared for presentation with this final clause omitted from such copy and upon proper request made to the appropriate clerk, the language appearing immediately following the State seal appear without House or Senate designation.
