1212 A RESOLUTION to honor Bill and Trish Nash.

1414 WHEREAS, it is most fitting that we should honor those citizens who, through their
1515 extraordinary efforts, have become leaders of whom we can all be proud; and
1616 WHEREAS, Bill and Trish Nash are such estimable people who evince the greatest
1717 integrity and probity in all their chosen endeavors; and
1818 WHEREAS, high school sweethearts Bill and Trish Nash met at Cohn High School in
1919 West Nashville in the early 1960s and were married shortly thereafter; and
2020 WHEREAS, Dr. Nash graduated from Vanderbilt University, and the couple moved to
2121 Memphis, where Bill Nash attended the University of Tennessee Dental School; Bill and Trish
2222 Nash moved again to Blytheville, Arkansas, where Dr. Nash served as a captain in the United
2323 States Air Force; and
2424 WHEREAS, following Dr. Nash's distinguished service, Bill and Trish Nash relocated to
2525 Smyrna, where Dr. Nash began his dental practice; he practiced dentistry from 1972 until taking
2626 his much-deserved retirement in 2011; and
2727 WHEREAS, an active leader in her community, Trish Nash served as regent of the Sam
2828 Davis Home and as a volunteer for several organizations, including Meals on Wheels, the
2929 Smyrna La Vergne Food Bank, the TriStar StoneCrest Medical Center, the American Cancer
3030 Society, and the Rutherford County Republican Party; she began the Smyrna and La Vergne
3131 offices of the Rutherford County Chamber of Commerce and served as a member of the board
3232 of directors at First Bank; and

3737 WHEREAS, Bill Nash is a Rutherford County Master Gardener, a certified Kansas City
3838 Barbecue Society judge, a caretaker of the Templeton Grove Cemetery, and a member of the
3939 Rotary Club of Smyrna, which he previously served as president; and
4040 WHEREAS, in addition to his appointment as a trustee of the Sam Davis Home, Dr.
4141 Nash is an avid runner, and Smyrna Parks and Recreation has, for many years, held the Bill
4242 Nash Dash for Cash as part of the annual road race in honor of his many years of service and
4343 dedication to his community; and
4444 WHEREAS, Bill and Trish Nash are fifty-year members of the Moose Club, and they
4545 continue to be active and involved in their beloved Rutherford County community; and
4646 WHEREAS, devoted to their family, Bill and Trish Nash enjoy the love and support of
4747 their children, Hunter and Beth, and five grandchildren; and
4848 WHEREAS, the success of the State of Tennessee, the strength of our communities,
4949 and the overall vitality of our society depend, in great measure, on the dedication of people such
5050 as Bill and Trish Nash, who use their considerable talents and resources to serve others; and
5151 WHEREAS, Bill and Trish Nash are wholly committed to the noble precepts of public
5252 service that have earned Tennessee recognition as the Volunteer State, and they should be
5353 specially recognized; now, therefore,
5454 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDRED
5555 FOURTEENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF TENNESSEE, THE SENATE
5656 CONCURRING, that we commend Bill and Trish Nash for their honorable and astute service to
5757 the good people of Tennessee and extend to them our best wishes for continued success.
5858 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that an appropriate copy of this resolution be prepared
5959 for presentation with this final clause omitted from such copy and upon proper request made to
6060 the appropriate clerk, the language appearing immediately following the State seal appear
6161 without House or Senate designation.
