<BillNo> <Sponsor> HOUSE JOINT RESOLUTION 126 By Sparks HJR0126 002728 - 1 - A RESOLUTION to honor Bill and Trish Nash. WHEREAS, it is most fitting that we should honor those citizens who, through their extraordinary efforts, have become leaders of whom we can all be proud; and WHEREAS, Bill and Trish Nash are such estimable people who evince the greatest integrity and probity in all their chosen endeavors; and WHEREAS, high school sweethearts Bill and Trish Nash met at Cohn High School in West Nashville in the early 1960s and were married shortly thereafter; and WHEREAS, Dr. Nash graduated from Vanderbilt University, and the couple moved to Memphis, where Bill Nash attended the University of Tennessee Dental School; Bill and Trish Nash moved again to Blytheville, Arkansas, where Dr. Nash served as a captain in the United States Air Force; and WHEREAS, following Dr. Nash's distinguished service, Bill and Trish Nash relocated to Smyrna, where Dr. Nash began his dental practice; he practiced dentistry from 1972 until taking his much-deserved retirement in 2011; and WHEREAS, an active leader in her community, Trish Nash served as regent of the Sam Davis Home and as a volunteer for several organizations, including Meals on Wheels, the Smyrna La Vergne Food Bank, the TriStar StoneCrest Medical Center, the American Cancer Society, and the Rutherford County Republican Party; she began the Smyrna and La Vergne offices of the Rutherford County Chamber of Commerce and served as a member of the board of directors at First Bank; and - 2 - 002728 WHEREAS, Bill Nash is a Rutherford County Master Gardener, a certified Kansas City Barbecue Society judge, a caretaker of the Templeton Grove Cemetery, and a member of the Rotary Club of Smyrna, which he previously served as president; and WHEREAS, in addition to his appointment as a trustee of the Sam Davis Home, Dr. Nash is an avid runner, and Smyrna Parks and Recreation has, for many years, held the Bill Nash Dash for Cash as part of the annual road race in honor of his many years of service and dedication to his community; and WHEREAS, Bill and Trish Nash are fifty-year members of the Moose Club, and they continue to be active and involved in their beloved Rutherford County community; and WHEREAS, devoted to their family, Bill and Trish Nash enjoy the love and support of their children, Hunter and Beth, and five grandchildren; and WHEREAS, the success of the State of Tennessee, the strength of our communities, and the overall vitality of our society depend, in great measure, on the dedication of people such as Bill and Trish Nash, who use their considerable talents and resources to serve others; and WHEREAS, Bill and Trish Nash are wholly committed to the noble precepts of public service that have earned Tennessee recognition as the Volunteer State, and they should be specially recognized; now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTEENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF TENNESSEE, THE SENATE CONCURRING, that we commend Bill and Trish Nash for their honorable and astute service to the good people of Tennessee and extend to them our best wishes for continued success.
