<BillNo> <Sponsor> HOUSE JOINT RESOLUTION 186 By Lamberth HJR0186 003241 - 1 - A RESOLUTION to confirm the appointment of DeWitt Booth to the advisory board for the University of Tennessee Southern. WHEREAS, Tennessee Code Annotated, Section 49-9-501, established advisory boards for the University of Tennessee, Knoxville; University of Tennessee at Martin; University of Tennessee at Chattanooga; University of Tennessee Health Science Center; and University of Tennessee Southern; and WHEREAS, Tennessee Code Annotated, Section 49-9-501, provides that the governor shall appoint five members to each advisory board; and WHEREAS, Governor Bill Lee has appointed DeWitt Booth to serve as a member of the advisory board for the University of Tennessee Southern for a term that expires on June 30, 2028; and WHEREAS, Mr. Booth enjoyed an illustrious career as a banker, serving in various roles, including as the vice president of the Bank of Frankewing in Pulaski, and he was an esteemed member of the Giles County Industrial Development Board and the Southern Tennessee Regional Health Systems hospital board; and WHEREAS, he attended classes at Martin Methodist College, which is now the University of Tennessee Southern, and was set to become a member of the Martin Methodist Board of Trustees prior to its acquisition by the State of Tennessee; and WHEREAS, Mr. Booth has regularly been involved with UT Southern's various programs, including campus sports, the Student Advisory Board, and the President's Council; and - 2 - 003241 WHEREAS, Tennessee Code Annotated, Section 49-9-501, provides that each member appointed by the governor to the advisory board for the University of Tennessee Southern shall be confirmed by the general assembly; now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTEENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF TENNESSEE, THE SENATE CONCURRING, that we hereby confirm the appointment of DeWitt Booth to the advisory board for the University of Tennessee Southern for a term that expires on June 30, 2028.
