1414 A RESOLUTION to confirm the appointment of Rick Spell to the
1515 advisory board for the University of Tennessee
1616 Health Science Center.

1818 WHEREAS, Tennessee Code Annotated, Section 49-9-501, established an advisory
1919 board for the University of Tennessee Health Science Center; and
2020 WHEREAS, Tennessee Code Annotated, Section 49-9-501, provides that the governor
2121 shall appoint five members to such advisory board; and
2222 WHEREAS, Governor Bill Lee has appointed Rick Spell to the advisory board for the
2323 University of Tennessee Health Science Center for a term that expires on June 30, 2028; and
2424 WHEREAS, Rick Spell is president of the Memphis Athletic Foundation at the University
2525 of Memphis as well as a member of the Capital Campaign Committee tasked with raising $600
2626 million; and
2727 WHEREAS, Mr. Spell graduated from the University of Memphis with a bachelor's
2828 degree in accounting; he attained his Certified Public Accountant certificate and devoted many
2929 years of his career to investment banking; and
3030 WHEREAS, Tennessee Code Annotated, Section 49-9-501, provides that each member
3131 appointed by the governor to the advisory board for the University of Tennessee Health Science
3232 Center shall be confirmed by the general assembly; now, therefore,
3333 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDRED
3434 FOURTEENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF TENNESSEE, THE SENATE
3535 CONCURRING, that we hereby confirm the appointment of Rick Spell to the advisory board for
3636 the University of Tennessee Health Science Center for a term that expires on June 30, 2028.
