| 16 | 16 | | WHEREAS, sudden unexplained death in children (SUDC) is the fifth leading cause of |

| 17 | 17 | | death for children ages one to four; and |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | WHEREAS, a child's cause of death can be ruled SUDC after a thorough investigation is |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | completed and no other cause of death is discovered; and |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | WHEREAS, there are few answers to what causes SUDC, how to predict it, or how to |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | prevent it; and |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | WHEREAS, the SUDC Foundation is the only worldwide nonprofit organization whose |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | purpose is to raise awareness, fund research, and serve those families affected by SUDC; and |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | WHEREAS, the SUDC Foundation assists bereaved parents and supports further |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | medical research to identify causes of death, such as undiagnosed heart arrhythmia or febrile |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | seizure, and preventive solutions; and |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | WHEREAS, SUDC Awareness Month will foster a greater sense of community and |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | shared purpose among individuals and families affected by SUDC; and |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | WHEREAS, all citizens in Tennessee can play a role in supporting the SUDC |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | Foundation and eradicating the unexplained death in children; now, therefore, |

| 31 | 31 | | BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDRED |
