<BillNo> <Sponsor> HOUSE JOINT RESOLUTION 309 By Freeman HJR0309 004592 - 1 - A RESOLUTION to commemorate Sudden Unexplained Death in Children Awareness Month. WHEREAS, sudden unexplained death in children (SUDC) is the fifth leading cause of death for children ages one to four; and WHEREAS, a child's cause of death can be ruled SUDC after a thorough investigation is completed and no other cause of death is discovered; and WHEREAS, there are few answers to what causes SUDC, how to predict it, or how to prevent it; and WHEREAS, the SUDC Foundation is the only worldwide nonprofit organization whose purpose is to raise awareness, fund research, and serve those families affected by SUDC; and WHEREAS, the SUDC Foundation assists bereaved parents and supports further medical research to identify causes of death, such as undiagnosed heart arrhythmia or febrile seizure, and preventive solutions; and WHEREAS, SUDC Awareness Month will foster a greater sense of community and shared purpose among individuals and families affected by SUDC; and WHEREAS, all citizens in Tennessee can play a role in supporting the SUDC Foundation and eradicating the unexplained death in children; now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTEENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE S TATE OF TENNESSEE, THE SENATE CONCURRING, that we commemorate Sudden Unexplained Death in Children Awareness Month, March 2025, in honor of Asher James Lee of Nashville. - 2 - 004592 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that an appropriate copy of this resolution be prepared for presentation with this final clause omitted from such copy and upon proper request made to the appropriate clerk, the language appearing immediately following the State seal appear without House or Senate designation.
