16 | 16 | | WHEREAS, it is fitting that the members of this General Assembly should specially |

17 | 17 | | recognize those exemplary organizations that are dedicated to improving the quality of life for |
---|
18 | 18 | | the people of Tennessee; and |
---|
19 | 19 | | WHEREAS, one such organization is Agape Child & Family Services, which is |
---|
20 | 20 | | celebrating its fifty-fifth anniversary of addressing the diverse needs of under-resourced |
---|
21 | 21 | | populations in Memphis; and |
---|
22 | 22 | | WHEREAS, founded in 1970 on the principles of love and compassion, Agape has |
---|
23 | 23 | | grown from a staff of two to nearly 120 team members and 2,000 volunteers, with roots in a |
---|
24 | 24 | | longtime affiliation with the Churches of Christ and a focus on foster care and adoption services; |
---|
25 | 25 | | and |
---|
26 | 26 | | WHEREAS, Agape's community-based services eliminate barriers to access by bringing |
---|
27 | 27 | | hope and healing to families right where they live, providing wraparound services to lift and |
---|
28 | 28 | | strengthen them; and |
---|
29 | 29 | | WHEREAS, the organization's school-based support addresses common reasons for |
---|
30 | 30 | | children missing school, such as family responsibilities, transportation problems, illness, and |
---|
31 | 31 | | behavioral issues, by providing support both in and out of the classroom; and |
---|
32 | 32 | | WHEREAS, Agape's workforce readiness program promotes parent and adult self- |
---|
33 | 33 | | sufficiency by addressing barriers to attaining education, employment, and financial |
---|
34 | 34 | | empowerment, enabling families to experience success and find opportunities; and |

40 | 40 | | sufficiency are provided through Agape's homeless services, while Christ-centered counseling |

41 | 41 | | for individuals, couples, families, and groups experiencing relationship conflicts, life crises, or |

42 | 42 | | other issues is offered by the organization's counseling services; and |

43 | 43 | | WHEREAS, Agape provides love, encouragement, and hope to those experiencing |

44 | 44 | | unplanned pregnancies and considering adoption, as well as for those looking to adopt, through |

45 | 45 | | the organization's adoption services; and |
---|
46 | 46 | | WHEREAS, Agape Child & Family Services has been a beacon of hope and support for |
---|
47 | 47 | | under-resourced populations in Memphis for fifty-five years, and it is fitting that we specially |

48 | 48 | | recognize this exceptional organization on this special occasion; now, therefore, |

49 | 49 | | BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDRED |

50 | 50 | | FOURTEENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF TENNESSEE, THE SENATE |

51 | 51 | | CONCURRING, that we honor and congratulate Agape Child & Family Services and its staff |

52 | 52 | | and volunteers on the occasion of the organization's fifty-fifth anniversary, extending our |

53 | 53 | | deepest gratitude for their invaluable contributions to the Memphis community and our best |
