<BillNo> <Sponsor> HOUSE JOINT RESOLUTION 329 By Gant HJR0329 004695 - 1 - A RESOLUTION to honor and commend Agape Child & Family Services on the occasion of its fifty-fifth anniversary. WHEREAS, it is fitting that the members of this General Assembly should specially recognize those exemplary organizations that are dedicated to improving the quality of life for the people of Tennessee; and WHEREAS, one such organization is Agape Child & Family Services, which is celebrating its fifty-fifth anniversary of addressing the diverse needs of under-resourced populations in Memphis; and WHEREAS, founded in 1970 on the principles of love and compassion, Agape has grown from a staff of two to nearly 120 team members and 2,000 volunteers, with roots in a longtime affiliation with the Churches of Christ and a focus on foster care and adoption services; and WHEREAS, Agape's community-based services eliminate barriers to access by bringing hope and healing to families right where they live, providing wraparound services to lift and strengthen them; and WHEREAS, the organization's school-based support addresses common reasons for children missing school, such as family responsibilities, transportation problems, illness, and behavioral issues, by providing support both in and out of the classroom; and WHEREAS, Agape's workforce readiness program promotes parent and adult self- sufficiency by addressing barriers to attaining education, employment, and financial empowerment, enabling families to experience success and find opportunities; and - 2 - 004695 WHEREAS, transitional housing and support for homeless families on the path to self- sufficiency are provided through Agape's homeless services, while Christ-centered counseling for individuals, couples, families, and groups experiencing relationship conflicts, life crises, or other issues is offered by the organization's counseling services; and WHEREAS, Agape provides love, encouragement, and hope to those experiencing unplanned pregnancies and considering adoption, as well as for those looking to adopt, through the organization's adoption services; and WHEREAS, Agape Child & Family Services has been a beacon of hope and support for under-resourced populations in Memphis for fifty-five years, and it is fitting that we specially recognize this exceptional organization on this special occasion; now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTEENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF TENNESSEE, THE SENATE CONCURRING, that we honor and congratulate Agape Child & Family Services and its staff and volunteers on the occasion of the organization's fifty-fifth anniversary, extending our deepest gratitude for their invaluable contributions to the Memphis community and our best wishes for every continued success in their future endeavors. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that an appropriate copy of this resolution be prepared for presentation with this final clause omitted from such copy and upon proper request made to the appropriate clerk, the language appearing immediately following the State seal appear without House or Senate designation.
