A RESOLUTION to honor and commend Agape Child & Family

WHEREAS, it is fitting that the members of this General Assembly should specially
recognize those exemplary organizations that are dedicated to improving the quality of life for
the people of Tennessee; and
WHEREAS, one such organization is Agape Child & Family Services, which is
celebrating its fifty-fifth anniversary of addressing the diverse needs of under-resourced
populations in Memphis; and
WHEREAS, founded in 1970 on the principles of love and compassion, Agape has
grown from a staff of two to nearly 120 team members and 2,000 volunteers, with roots in a
longtime affiliation with the Churches of Christ and a focus on foster care and adoption services;
and
WHEREAS, Agape's community-based services eliminate barriers to access by bringing
hope and healing to families right where they live, providing wraparound services to lift and
strengthen them; and
WHEREAS, the organization's school-based support addresses common reasons for
children missing school, such as family responsibilities, transportation problems, illness, and
behavioral issues, by providing support both in and out of the classroom; and
WHEREAS, Agape's workforce readiness program promotes parent and adult self-
sufficiency by addressing barriers to attaining education, employment, and financial
empowerment, enabling families to experience success and find opportunities; and

WHEREAS, transitional housing and support for homeless families on the path to self-
sufficiency are provided through Agape's homeless services, while Christ-centered counseling
for individuals, couples, families, and groups experiencing relationship conflicts, life crises, or
other issues is offered by the organization's counseling services; and
WHEREAS, Agape provides love, encouragement, and hope to those experiencing
unplanned pregnancies and considering adoption, as well as for those looking to adopt, through
the organization's adoption services; and
WHEREAS, Agape Child & Family Services has been a beacon of hope and support for
under-resourced populations in Memphis for fifty-five years, and it is fitting that we specially
recognize this exceptional organization on this special occasion; now, therefore,
