15 | 15 | | WHEREAS, the members of this General Assembly were greatly saddened to learn of |

16 | 16 | | the untimely passing of Pastor Ricky Floyd, the founder and senior lead pastor of The Pursuit of |

17 | 17 | | God Transformation Center in Memphis; and |
---|
18 | 18 | | WHEREAS, an inspirational leader, Pastor Ricky Floyd was admired throughout the |
---|
19 | 19 | | Frayser and Memphis communities for his commitment to faith, family, and service, having |
---|
20 | 20 | | brought healing and instruction to countless unions and families; and |
---|
21 | 21 | | WHEREAS, as the founder and senior lead pastor of The Pursuit of God Transformation |
---|
22 | 22 | | Center, Pastor Floyd's leadership role extended beyond his advocacy; he was truly a beacon of |
---|
23 | 23 | | hope, faith, and empowerment for countless individuals, and he devoted his life to uplifting |
---|
24 | 24 | | people, restoring families, and strengthening communities; and |
---|
25 | 25 | | WHEREAS, Pastor Floyd was an admired leader in his community and served as |
---|
26 | 26 | | founder of Salvation Revelation Ministries, Inc.; curriculum coordinator and instructor for |
---|
27 | 27 | | Manhood University; president and founder of the Husband Institute, Inc., a boys-to-men |
---|
28 | 28 | | mentoring program that aims to help young men stay on a good path; founder of the School of |
---|
29 | 29 | | Marriage Enhancement, a ministry program, which he ran alongside his wife; and president of |
---|
30 | 30 | | Eden Estates Apartments; and |
---|
31 | 31 | | WHEREAS, he was a member of several boards, including Frayser Community Schools, |
---|
32 | 32 | | Families Matter, Inc., Methodist Hospital North, and Citizen's Law Enforcement Review, which |
---|
33 | 33 | | he served as interim president; and |
---|
34 | 34 | | WHEREAS, Pastor Floyd partnered with a number of organizations, including Agape |
---|
35 | 35 | | Child and Family Services, the Methodist Congregational Health Network, the Memphis |

42 | 42 | | WHEREAS, Pastor Floyd was recognized by the Federal Bureau of Investigation for his |

43 | 43 | | efforts to reduce crime and violence in Memphis, and, in his endeavors to better the lives of |

44 | 44 | | those in need, he purchased and refurbished a strip mall across from his church and, thus, |
---|
45 | 45 | | created jobs for young men from single-parent homes; and |
---|
46 | 46 | | WHEREAS, in addition to his leadership training, marriage seminars, conferences, |
---|
47 | 47 | | workshops, and media broadcasts, Pastor Ricky Floyd was the author of Discover the Gold |
---|
48 | 48 | | Within by Walking Your Goals Out, a workbook to help families accomplish their vision; and |
---|
49 | 49 | | WHEREAS, Pastor Floyd was also deeply devoted to his family, and he always |
---|
50 | 50 | | endeavored to remain true to family values of the highest order; and |
---|
51 | 51 | | WHEREAS, his pastoral accomplishments aside, Pastor Floyd was most grateful for the |
---|
52 | 52 | | love and support of his wife, Sheila Floyd, his children, and his granddaughters; and |
---|
53 | 53 | | WHEREAS, throughout his life, Pastor Ricky Floyd's mentorship and ministry have |
---|
54 | 54 | | uplifted families, strengthened communities, and provided unwavering support to those in need, |
---|
55 | 55 | | and his legacy will continue to reach his community and its citizens for years to come; and |
---|
56 | 56 | | WHEREAS, it is fitting that the members of this General Assembly should pause to |
---|
57 | 57 | | remember the bountiful life of this exceptional public servant and human being; now, therefore, |
---|
58 | 58 | | BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDRED |
