1212 A RESOLUTION to honor the memory of Pastor Ricky Floyd of
1313 Memphis.

1515 WHEREAS, the members of this General Assembly were greatly saddened to learn of
1616 the untimely passing of Pastor Ricky Floyd, the founder and senior lead pastor of The Pursuit of
1717 God Transformation Center in Memphis; and
1818 WHEREAS, an inspirational leader, Pastor Ricky Floyd was admired throughout the
1919 Frayser and Memphis communities for his commitment to faith, family, and service, having
2020 brought healing and instruction to countless unions and families; and
2121 WHEREAS, as the founder and senior lead pastor of The Pursuit of God Transformation
2222 Center, Pastor Floyd's leadership role extended beyond his advocacy; he was truly a beacon of
2323 hope, faith, and empowerment for countless individuals, and he devoted his life to uplifting
2424 people, restoring families, and strengthening communities; and
2525 WHEREAS, Pastor Floyd was an admired leader in his community and served as
2626 founder of Salvation Revelation Ministries, Inc.; curriculum coordinator and instructor for
2727 Manhood University; president and founder of the Husband Institute, Inc., a boys-to-men
2828 mentoring program that aims to help young men stay on a good path; founder of the School of
2929 Marriage Enhancement, a ministry program, which he ran alongside his wife; and president of
3030 Eden Estates Apartments; and
3131 WHEREAS, he was a member of several boards, including Frayser Community Schools,
3232 Families Matter, Inc., Methodist Hospital North, and Citizen's Law Enforcement Review, which
3333 he served as interim president; and
3434 WHEREAS, Pastor Floyd partnered with a number of organizations, including Agape
3535 Child and Family Services, the Methodist Congregational Health Network, the Memphis

4040 Christian Pastors Network, the Church Developers Network, and the Memphis Success Zone
4141 Partnership, among various other churches and groups; and
4242 WHEREAS, Pastor Floyd was recognized by the Federal Bureau of Investigation for his
4343 efforts to reduce crime and violence in Memphis, and, in his endeavors to better the lives of
4444 those in need, he purchased and refurbished a strip mall across from his church and, thus,
4545 created jobs for young men from single-parent homes; and
4646 WHEREAS, in addition to his leadership training, marriage seminars, conferences,
4747 workshops, and media broadcasts, Pastor Ricky Floyd was the author of Discover the Gold
4848 Within by Walking Your Goals Out, a workbook to help families accomplish their vision; and
4949 WHEREAS, Pastor Floyd was also deeply devoted to his family, and he always
5050 endeavored to remain true to family values of the highest order; and
5151 WHEREAS, his pastoral accomplishments aside, Pastor Floyd was most grateful for the
5252 love and support of his wife, Sheila Floyd, his children, and his granddaughters; and
5353 WHEREAS, throughout his life, Pastor Ricky Floyd's mentorship and ministry have
5454 uplifted families, strengthened communities, and provided unwavering support to those in need,
5555 and his legacy will continue to reach his community and its citizens for years to come; and
5656 WHEREAS, it is fitting that the members of this General Assembly should pause to
5757 remember the bountiful life of this exceptional public servant and human being; now, therefore,
5858 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDRED
5959 FOURTEENTH GENERA L ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF TENNESSEE, THE SENATE
6060 CONCURRING, that we honor the memory of Pastor Ricky Floyd, reflecting fondly upon his
6161 impeccable character and his stalwart commitment to living the examined life with courage and
6262 conviction.
6363 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that we express our sympathy and offer our condolences
6464 to the family and friends of Pastor Floyd.
