A RESOLUTION to honor the memory of Pastor Ricky Floyd of 
Memphis. 
 
 WHEREAS, the members of this General Assembly were greatly saddened to learn of 
the untimely passing of Pastor Ricky Floyd, the founder and senior lead pastor of The Pursuit of 
God Transformation Center in Memphis; and 
 WHEREAS, an inspirational leader, Pastor Ricky Floyd was admired throughout the 
Frayser and Memphis communities for his commitment to faith, family, and service, having 
brought healing and instruction to countless unions and families; and 
 WHEREAS, as the founder and senior lead pastor of The Pursuit of God Transformation 
Center, Pastor Floyd's leadership role extended beyond his advocacy; he was truly a beacon of 
hope, faith, and empowerment for countless individuals, and he devoted his life to uplifting 
people, restoring families, and strengthening communities; and 
 WHEREAS, Pastor Floyd was an admired leader in his community and served as 
founder of Salvation Revelation Ministries, Inc.; curriculum coordinator and instructor for 
Manhood University; president and founder of the Husband Institute, Inc., a boys-to-men 
mentoring program that aims to help young men stay on a good path; founder of the School of 
Marriage Enhancement, a ministry program, which he ran alongside his wife; and president of 
Eden Estates Apartments; and 
 WHEREAS, he was a member of several boards, including Frayser Community Schools, 
Families Matter, Inc., Methodist Hospital North, and Citizen's Law Enforcement Review, which 
he served as interim president; and 
 WHEREAS, Pastor Floyd partnered with a number of organizations, including Agape 
Child and Family Services, the Methodist Congregational Health Network, the Memphis

Christian Pastors Network, the Church Developers Network, and the Memphis Success Zone 
Partnership, among various other churches and groups; and 
 WHEREAS, Pastor Floyd was recognized by the Federal Bureau of Investigation for his 
efforts to reduce crime and violence in Memphis, and, in his endeavors to better the lives of 
those in need, he purchased and refurbished a strip mall across from his church and, thus, 
created jobs for young men from single-parent homes; and 
 WHEREAS, in addition to his leadership training, marriage seminars, conferences, 
workshops, and media broadcasts, Pastor Ricky Floyd was the author of Discover the Gold 
Within by Walking Your Goals Out, a workbook to help families accomplish their vision; and 
 WHEREAS, Pastor Floyd was also deeply devoted to his family, and he always 
endeavored to remain true to family values of the highest order; and 
 WHEREAS, his pastoral accomplishments aside, Pastor Floyd was most grateful for the 
love and support of his wife, Sheila Floyd, his children, and his granddaughters; and 
 WHEREAS, throughout his life, Pastor Ricky Floyd's mentorship and ministry have 
uplifted families, strengthened communities, and provided unwavering support to those in need, 
and his legacy will continue to reach his community and its citizens for years to come; and 
 WHEREAS, it is fitting that the members of this General Assembly should pause to 
remember the bountiful life of this exceptional public servant and human being; now, therefore, 
 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDRED 
FOURTEENTH GENERA L ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF TENNESSEE, THE SENATE 
CONCURRING, that we honor the memory of Pastor Ricky Floyd, reflecting fondly upon his 
impeccable character and his stalwart commitment to living the examined life with courage and 
conviction. 
 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that we express our sympathy and offer our condolences 
to the family and friends of Pastor Floyd.

 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that an appropriate copy of this resolution be prepared 
for presentation with this final clause omitted from such copy and upon proper request made to 
the appropriate clerk, the language appearing immediately following the State seal appear 
without House or Senate designation.
