<BillNo> <Sponsor> HOUSE JOINT RESOLUTION 372 By Vital HJR0372 005086 - 1 - A RESOLUTION to honor and congratulate Dr. Caroline Rogers on her selection as the TBR 2025 SOAR Community College Faculty Member of the Year. WHEREAS, it is fitting that the members of this General Assembly should pay tribute to those outstanding professionals who have dedicated their careers to providing exemplary service to their community; and WHEREAS, Dr. Caroline Rogers is one such estimable individual, who has distinguished herself as a professional of the greatest dedication, ability, and integrity; and WHEREAS, Dr. Rogers was recently recognized by the Tennessee Board of Regents as the 2025 SOAR (Statewide Outstanding Achievement and Recognition) Community College Faculty Member of the Year, a most befitting honor that recognizes the positive influence she has on so many lives; and WHEREAS, the Tennessee Board of Regents established the SOAR Awards in 2019 to recognize and honor outstanding students, faculty members, and staff members; major accomplishments of the colleges; and philanthropists, volunteers, and partners who support the schools in their missions; and WHEREAS, Dr. Caroline Rogers has served as the Program Director for the Physical Therapy Assistant Program at Chattanooga State Community College since 2014; she has also served as a faculty member and adjunct instructor at Chattanooga State University and the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga; and WHEREAS, after attending Lambuth University in Jackson, where she majored in biology and pre-physical therapy, Dr. Rogers received a Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Therapy from the University of Tennessee Center for Health Sciences, Memphis in 1981; she went on to earn a doctorate in physical therapy in 2008 from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga; and - 2 - 005086 WHEREAS, Dr. Caroline Rogers has extensive experience as a physical therapist, having served at Life Care Center of East Ridge, Consulate Health Care, Contin-U-Care, Erlanger Medical Center, Siskin Rehabilitation Center, and Vanderbilt Medical Center; and WHEREAS, recognized for her exceptional contributions to her profession and her community, Dr. Rogers was named a Woman of Distinction of Greater Chattanooga in 2023 and received the Gean Baron Award for service to Ski Beech Learn to Ski & Snowboard for disabled adults/children in 2023, the Outstanding PTA Educator Award from the American Physical Therapy Association in 2022, and Adjunct Faculty of the Year Award from Chattanooga State Community College in 1997; and WHEREAS, she has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to her profession, serving on the boards of ABIDE Respite Program, Family Voices of Tennessee, and the Patricia Neal Rehab Center and volunteering with the Special Olympics and the Interfaith Hospitality Network; and WHEREAS, Dr. Rogers has shown a passion for teaching and mentoring, encouraging critical thinking, engagement, and hands-on application of skills in her students and helping them transition from the academic to the clinical environment; and WHEREAS, her dedication to improving geriatric care through scholarly research and her collaboration with the University of Tennessee Doctor of Physical Therapy program to provide joint learning opportunities further exemplify her commitment to continuous professional learning and development; and WHEREAS, Dr. Caroline Rogers has distinguished herself as a professional of the greatest ability and integrity, and she is truly deserving of our approbation at this time; now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTEENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF TENNESSEE, THE SENATE CONCURRING, that we honor and congratulate Dr. Caroline Rogers on being named the TBR 2025 SOAR Community College Faculty Member of the Year, commend her meritorious service - 3 - 005086 to the State of Tennessee, and extend to her our best wishes for her continued success in all future endeavors. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that an appropriate copy of this resolution be prepared for presentation with this final clause omitted from such copy and upon proper request made to the appropriate clerk, the language appearing immediately following the State seal appear without House or Senate designation.
