<BillNo> <Sponsor> HOUSE JOINT RESOLUTION 541 By Camper HJR0541 006519 - 1 - A RESOLUTION to honor and commend Andrew and Rose Pollard upon the celebration of their sixtieth wedding anniversary. WHEREAS, the members of this General Assembly take great pleasure in paying tribute to those successful marriages that have stood the test of time to serve as exemplars for present and future generations; and WHEREAS, on March 26, 1965, Andrew Pollard and Rose Marie Briggs were joined in holy matrimony, and since that fateful day, this outstanding couple has faced the world as one, basking in the glow of their love for each other during both life's joys and sorrows; and WHEREAS, Mr. and Mrs. Pollard are highly respected citizens of their community and the very epitome of good neighbors, as they always endeavor to treat others as they would like to be treated; and WHEREAS, the couple owns A & R Barbecue, and Mrs. Pollard is a retired postal clerk who formerly worked at the Memphis Bulk Mail Center; and WHEREAS, Andrew and Rose Pollard have both earned the respect of their colleagues and customers alike for the exemplary quality of their food and service; and WHEREAS, this fine couple's praiseworthy marriage has produced three children, Lashun (Gregory) Turner, Brian (Magistrate Judge Mitzi) Pollard, and the late Latrice (Reginald Sr.) Anthony; and WHEREAS, the Pollards are also the proud grandparents of Keith (Asia) Pollard, Brandon Pollard, Randi Anthony, and Reginald Anthony II and the great-grandparents of Aaliyah Anthony, Kash Pollard, and Major Glass; and - 2 - 006519 WHEREAS, dedicated to their Lord, the Pollards are faithful members of New Direction Christian Church, where Mr. Pollard serves as an elder, Empower-U facilitator, and member of the finance team, and Mrs. Pollard serves on the Mary, Martha Ministry and the finance team; and WHEREAS, for sixty years, this blessed union has grown and prospered as an expression of time-honored family values and selfless love; and WHEREAS, marriages such as the Pollards' are truly the rock-solid foundation upon which our society is built and a beacon of sanity and continuity in these turbulent times; now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTEENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF TENNESSEE, THE SENATE CONCURRING, that we honor and congratulate Andrew and Rose Pollard on the celebration of their sixtieth wedding anniversary and extend to them our best wishes for much continued happiness in the years to come.
