15 | 15 | | WHEREAS, it is appropriate that the members of this General Assembly should honor |
---|
16 | 16 | | those citizens who have performed with uncommon devotion and enthusiasm throughout their |
---|
17 | 17 | | careers in public service; and |
---|
18 | 18 | | WHEREAS, Melinda Poteet Goode is one such estimable person, who has distinguished |
---|
19 | 19 | | herself as a professional of the greatest dedication, ability, and integrity; and |
---|
20 | 20 | | WHEREAS, after nearly forty-one years of exemplary service with the Northwest |
---|
21 | 21 | | Tennessee Development District and Human Resource Agency, Mrs. Goode will be taking a |
---|
22 | 22 | | well-deserved retirement on June 30, 2025; and |
---|
23 | 23 | | WHEREAS, Melinda Goode has served in numerous capacities during her distinguished |
---|
24 | 24 | | tenure, most recently as the executive director of both agencies, a role to which she was |
---|
25 | 25 | | unanimously appointed by the board of directors in November 2020; and |
---|
26 | 26 | | WHEREAS, throughout her career, Mrs. Goode has dedicated herself to enhancing the |
---|
27 | 27 | | quality of life for the more than 250,000 citizens of Northwest Tennessee, working tirelessly to |
---|
28 | 28 | | provide resources, coordinate programs, and advocate for the needs of rural communities; and |
---|
29 | 29 | | WHEREAS, a native of Trenton, Melinda Goode is a proud graduate of Peabody High |
---|
30 | 30 | | School, and she furthered her education at the University of Tennessee at Martin and Bethel |
---|
31 | 31 | | University, where she earned a degree in organizational management in 2008; and |
---|
32 | 32 | | WHEREAS, she is a respected alumna of several esteemed leadership programs, |
---|
33 | 33 | | including Weakley County Leadership, WestStar Leadership, and the Delta Regional Authority |
---|
34 | 34 | | Leadership Program, and she also attended the Harvard Kennedy School of Government for |
---|
35 | 35 | | Leadership and Leadership Tennessee; and |
---|
36 | 36 | | WHEREAS, an esteemed member of her profession, Mrs. Goode has served as a |
---|
37 | 37 | | member of the board of directors of the Tennessee Development District Association and the |
---|

45 | 45 | | WHEREAS, she currently serves on the Workforce Investment Board for eleven counties |

46 | 46 | | in West Tennessee and contributes her insight and experience as a member of the Council of |

47 | 47 | | Peers for the Southeast Regional Directors Institute; and |
---|
48 | 48 | | WHEREAS, Melinda Goode has also demonstrated her commitment to public service by |

49 | 49 | | serving several years on the Weakley County Board of Education and participating in mission |
---|
50 | 50 | | trips to Honduras; and |
---|
51 | 51 | | WHEREAS, her many professional accomplishments aside, Mrs. Goode is grateful for |

52 | 52 | | the love and companionship of her family—her husband, Bobby; two sons, Garner (Rachel) and |
---|
53 | 53 | | Crockett (Amy); and her beloved grandchildren, Harper, Mack, and Cohen; and |
---|
54 | 54 | | WHEREAS, throughout her estimable career, Mrs. Goode has demonstrated the utmost |
---|
55 | 55 | | professionalism, ability, and integrity, winning the unbridled respect and admiration of her |
---|
56 | 56 | | colleagues and the citizens she so ably served; now, therefore, |
---|
57 | 57 | | BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDRED |

59 | 59 | | CONCURRING, that we extend to Melinda Poteet Goode our heartfelt wishes for a happy and |
