1212 A RESOLUTION to commend Doug Englen for his honorable and
1313 astute service as Chairman of the Montgomery
1414 County Republican Party.

1616 WHEREAS, it is fitting that the members of this General Assembly should pause to
1717 specially recognize those estimable public servants who have dedicated themselves to
1818 improving the quality of life for their fellow citizens; and
1919 WHEREAS, one such remarkable individual is Doug Englen, whose legacy of service
2020 spans over three decades in the United States Army and through continued civic leadership as
2121 Chairman of the Montgomery County Republican Party; and
2222 WHEREAS, after a storied military career, Mr. Englen entered the political arena as a
2323 candidate for the Tennessee State Senate in District 22 in early 2020; though unsuccessful in
2424 that race, he emerged as a dedicated public servant, consistently supporting his former
2525 opponent and remaining actively engaged in Tennessee politics; and
2626 WHEREAS, as Montgomery County Republican Party Chairman and the District 22
2727 State Executive Committeeman, Doug Englen has exemplified servant leadership, guiding and
2828 supporting conservative principles and candidates at the grassroots level; and
2929 WHEREAS, from 2020 to 2024, he served as chapter president of the Tennessee
3030 Firearms Association, sat on the board of the chamber of commerce, and chaired numerous
3131 veterans' organizations, always striving to better his community through meaningful
3232 engagement and advocacy; and
3333 WHEREAS, Mr. Englen joined Bell in 2020 as the Fort Campbell representative for
3434 Future Vertical Lift programs; drawing on his extensive aviation background, he advises on the
3535 design, development, build, and test of the V-280 Valor aircraft for the United States Army's
3636 Future Long Range Assault Aircraft program, contributing to the Army's modernization strategy;

4242 WHEREAS, prior to joining Bell, Doug Englen honorably served his nation as an active-
4343 duty member of the United States Army for thirty-three years; in his final assignment, he served
4444 as Senior Warrant Officer Advisor to the Chief of Staff and Secretary of the Army at the
4545 Pentagon, after having served twenty-two years in Special Operations Command, assuming
4646 roles ranging from technology acquisition to chief aviator and flight lead; and
4747 WHEREAS, Mr. Englen accumulated nearly 8,000 flight hours during his service,
4848 carrying out more than 2,500 combat missions across the globe; his earlier assignments
4949 included CH-47D operations in Germany and Korea, after beginning his Army career as a UH-
5050 1H mechanic; and
5151 WHEREAS, Doug Englen holds a bachelor's degree from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical
5252 University; he received advanced military education through the Army War College, FAA
5353 certifications, and completion of elite programs, including the Air Force Weapons School and
5454 Marine Weapons and Tactics Instructor Course; and
5555 WHEREAS, for his service to our country, Mr. Englen was awarded the Distinguished
5656 Service Medal, two Silver Star medals, Legion of Merit, three Distinguished Flying Cross
5757 medals, two Bronze Star Medals, two Meritorious Service Medals, nine Air Medal with Valor
5858 Device (Numeral 8), four Army Commendation Medals, four Army Achievement Medals, Army
5959 Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal (one Bronze Service Star), Southwest
6060 Asia Service Medal (three Bronze Service Stars), Iraq Campaign Medal, Global War on
6161 Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Humanitarian Medal,
6262 NCO Professional Development Ribbon (Numeral 2) , Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service
6363 Ribbon (Numeral 5), Kuwait Liberation Medal (Saudi Arabia), NATO Medal (one Bronze Star),
6464 Kuwait Liberation Medal (Government of Kuwait), Combat Action Badge, Master Army Aviator
6565 Badge, Air Assault Badge, and the Parachutist Badge; and
6666 WHEREAS, a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, Doug Englen enjoys the love
6767 and support of his wife, Tina, and their children, Chris (Rachelle), Alexandria (John), Catheryn,
6868 and Elizabeth, and four cherished grandchildren; and

7373 WHEREAS, Mr. Englen is wholly committed to the noble precepts of public service and
7474 political engagement that have earned Tennessee recognition as the Volunteer State, and he
7575 should be specially recognized; now, therefore,
7676 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDRED
7777 FOURTEENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF TENNESSEE, THE SENATE
7878 CONCURRING, that we hereby commend Doug Englen for his honorable and astute service as
7979 Chairman of the Montgomery County Republican Party and salute his unswerving commitment
8080 to living the examined life with courage and conviction.
8181 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that an appropriate copy of this resolution be prepared
8282 for presentation with this final clause omitted from such copy and upon proper request made to
8383 the appropriate clerk, the language appearing immediately following the State seal appear
8484 without House or Senate designation.
