15 | 15 | | WHEREAS, it is fitting that the members of this General Assembly pay tribute to those |
---|
16 | 16 | | citizens who are celebrating special occasions in their estimable lives; and |

17 | 17 | | WHEREAS, Dr. Harold Vann celebrated his ninety-fifth birthday on February 28, 2025, a |
---|
18 | 18 | | milestone commemorated as yet another precious souvenir of life's rich pageant; and |
---|
19 | 19 | | WHEREAS, a highly respected member of the Clarksville community, Dr. Vann was born |
---|
20 | 20 | | on February 28, 1930; and |
---|
21 | 21 | | WHEREAS, Dr. Harold Vann served the children and families of Tennessee as a |
---|
22 | 22 | | pediatrician for thirty-seven years, providing care marked by clinical excellence, empathy, and a |
---|
23 | 23 | | deep commitment to underserved populations; and |
---|
24 | 24 | | WHEREAS, after receiving a medical degree from the University of Tennessee Medical |
---|
25 | 25 | | School, he completed pediatric residencies at the City of Memphis Hospital and Vanderbilt |
---|
26 | 26 | | University; and |
---|
27 | 27 | | WHEREAS, a prominent pediatrician, Dr. Vann served as president of the Tennessee |
---|
28 | 28 | | Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics and played a pivotal role in establishing |
---|
29 | 29 | | KidsCare, a pediatric clinic devoted to serving TennCare patients in Montgomery County; and |
---|
30 | 30 | | WHEREAS, he held leadership positions at Clarksville Memorial Hospital, including |
---|
31 | 31 | | Chief of Pediatrics and Chief of Staff, and contributed to statewide health initiatives as a |
---|
32 | 32 | | member of the Tennessee Prenatal Subcommittee on Levels of Care; and |
---|
33 | 33 | | WHEREAS, transitioning from practice in 1995, Dr. Harold Vann became the executive |
---|
34 | 34 | | director of the Cumberland Pediatric Foundation; as Clinical Professor of Pediatrics, he led the |
---|
35 | 35 | | pediatricians of Middle Tennessee, including those of Vanderbilt Children's Hospital, in |
---|
36 | 36 | | improving the care of children; and |

41 | 41 | | WHEREAS, throughout his career, Dr. Harold Vann was an active and devoted member |

43 | 43 | | American Academy of Pediatrics, and he also served with distinction on the Credentialing |
---|
44 | 44 | | Committee for Cigna Insurance; and |

45 | 45 | | WHEREAS, after taking his well-deserved retirement in 2001, Dr. Vann was honored |

46 | 46 | | with the Tennessee Medical Association's Distinguished Service Award; and |
---|
47 | 47 | | WHEREAS, Dr. Harold Vann continued his service in later years by working with |
---|
48 | 48 | | individuals recovering from addiction in jails and rehabilitation centers, and by sharing his |
---|
49 | 49 | | insights in Coping with Life: Finding Joy in Dealing with Troubles, a book grounded in Christian |
---|
50 | 50 | | principles and centered on emotional resilience and healing; and |
---|
51 | 51 | | WHEREAS, as Dr. Vann enters his ninety-sixth year, he remains a beacon of service, |
---|
52 | 52 | | integrity, and compassion; and |
---|
53 | 53 | | WHEREAS, we wish to grasp this golden opportunity to specially recognize this |

54 | 54 | | outstanding Tennessean on this very special occasion; now, therefore, |

55 | 55 | | BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDRED |

57 | 57 | | CONCURRING, that we hereby honor and congratulate Dr. Harold Vann on the celebration of |
