1212 A RESOLUTION to honor and congratulate Dr. Harold Vann on
1313 the celebration of his ninety-fifth birthday.

1515 WHEREAS, it is fitting that the members of this General Assembly pay tribute to those
1616 citizens who are celebrating special occasions in their estimable lives; and
1717 WHEREAS, Dr. Harold Vann celebrated his ninety-fifth birthday on February 28, 2025, a
1818 milestone commemorated as yet another precious souvenir of life's rich pageant; and
1919 WHEREAS, a highly respected member of the Clarksville community, Dr. Vann was born
2020 on February 28, 1930; and
2121 WHEREAS, Dr. Harold Vann served the children and families of Tennessee as a
2222 pediatrician for thirty-seven years, providing care marked by clinical excellence, empathy, and a
2323 deep commitment to underserved populations; and
2424 WHEREAS, after receiving a medical degree from the University of Tennessee Medical
2525 School, he completed pediatric residencies at the City of Memphis Hospital and Vanderbilt
2626 University; and
2727 WHEREAS, a prominent pediatrician, Dr. Vann served as president of the Tennessee
2828 Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics and played a pivotal role in establishing
2929 KidsCare, a pediatric clinic devoted to serving TennCare patients in Montgomery County; and
3030 WHEREAS, he held leadership positions at Clarksville Memorial Hospital, including
3131 Chief of Pediatrics and Chief of Staff, and contributed to statewide health initiatives as a
3232 member of the Tennessee Prenatal Subcommittee on Levels of Care; and
3333 WHEREAS, transitioning from practice in 1995, Dr. Harold Vann became the executive
3434 director of the Cumberland Pediatric Foundation; as Clinical Professor of Pediatrics, he led the
3535 pediatricians of Middle Tennessee, including those of Vanderbilt Children's Hospital, in
3636 improving the care of children; and

4141 WHEREAS, throughout his career, Dr. Harold Vann was an active and devoted member
4242 of the Montgomery County Medical Society, the Tennessee Medical Association, and the
4343 American Academy of Pediatrics, and he also served with distinction on the Credentialing
4444 Committee for Cigna Insurance; and
4545 WHEREAS, after taking his well-deserved retirement in 2001, Dr. Vann was honored
4646 with the Tennessee Medical Association's Distinguished Service Award; and
4747 WHEREAS, Dr. Harold Vann continued his service in later years by working with
4848 individuals recovering from addiction in jails and rehabilitation centers, and by sharing his
4949 insights in Coping with Life: Finding Joy in Dealing with Troubles, a book grounded in Christian
5050 principles and centered on emotional resilience and healing; and
5151 WHEREAS, as Dr. Vann enters his ninety-sixth year, he remains a beacon of service,
5252 integrity, and compassion; and
5353 WHEREAS, we wish to grasp this golden opportunity to specially recognize this
5454 outstanding Tennessean on this very special occasion; now, therefore,
5555 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDRED
5656 FOURTEENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF TENNESSEE, THE SENATE
5757 CONCURRING, that we hereby honor and congratulate Dr. Harold Vann on the celebration of
5858 his ninety-fifth birthday, offer our gratitude for his lifetime of distinguished service, and extend to
5959 him our best wishes for much continued success and happiness.
6060 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that an appropriate copy of this resolution be prepared
6161 for presentation with this final clause omitted from such copy and upon proper request made to
6262 the appropriate clerk, the language appearing immediately following the State seal appear
6363 without House or Senate designation.
