<BillNo> <Sponsor> HOUSE JOINT RESOLUTION 649 By Reedy HJR0649 007465 - 1 - A RESOLUTION to honor and congratulate Dr. Harold Vann on the celebration of his ninety-fifth birthday. WHEREAS, it is fitting that the members of this General Assembly pay tribute to those citizens who are celebrating special occasions in their estimable lives; and WHEREAS, Dr. Harold Vann celebrated his ninety-fifth birthday on February 28, 2025, a milestone commemorated as yet another precious souvenir of life's rich pageant; and WHEREAS, a highly respected member of the Clarksville community, Dr. Vann was born on February 28, 1930; and WHEREAS, Dr. Harold Vann served the children and families of Tennessee as a pediatrician for thirty-seven years, providing care marked by clinical excellence, empathy, and a deep commitment to underserved populations; and WHEREAS, after receiving a medical degree from the University of Tennessee Medical School, he completed pediatric residencies at the City of Memphis Hospital and Vanderbilt University; and WHEREAS, a prominent pediatrician, Dr. Vann served as president of the Tennessee Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics and played a pivotal role in establishing KidsCare, a pediatric clinic devoted to serving TennCare patients in Montgomery County; and WHEREAS, he held leadership positions at Clarksville Memorial Hospital, including Chief of Pediatrics and Chief of Staff, and contributed to statewide health initiatives as a member of the Tennessee Prenatal Subcommittee on Levels of Care; and WHEREAS, transitioning from practice in 1995, Dr. Harold Vann became the executive director of the Cumberland Pediatric Foundation; as Clinical Professor of Pediatrics, he led the pediatricians of Middle Tennessee, including those of Vanderbilt Children's Hospital, in improving the care of children; and - 2 - 007465 WHEREAS, throughout his career, Dr. Harold Vann was an active and devoted member of the Montgomery County Medical Society, the Tennessee Medical Association, and the American Academy of Pediatrics, and he also served with distinction on the Credentialing Committee for Cigna Insurance; and WHEREAS, after taking his well-deserved retirement in 2001, Dr. Vann was honored with the Tennessee Medical Association's Distinguished Service Award; and WHEREAS, Dr. Harold Vann continued his service in later years by working with individuals recovering from addiction in jails and rehabilitation centers, and by sharing his insights in Coping with Life: Finding Joy in Dealing with Troubles, a book grounded in Christian principles and centered on emotional resilience and healing; and WHEREAS, as Dr. Vann enters his ninety-sixth year, he remains a beacon of service, integrity, and compassion; and WHEREAS, we wish to grasp this golden opportunity to specially recognize this outstanding Tennessean on this very special occasion; now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTEENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF TENNESSEE, THE SENATE CONCURRING, that we hereby honor and congratulate Dr. Harold Vann on the celebration of his ninety-fifth birthday, offer our gratitude for his lifetime of distinguished service, and extend to him our best wishes for much continued success and happiness.
