1212 A RESOLUTION to recognize the Tennessee District Council of
1313 the Assemblies of God on the occasion of its

1818 WHEREAS, it is appropriate that the members of this General Assembly should pause to
1919 recognize those venerable religious institutions and their congregations that, through their
2020 unflagging capacity for love, dedication of spirit, and faith in God, enrich the lives of people in
2121 their communities; and
2222 WHEREAS, one such dynamic and historic community of faith is the Tennessee District
2323 Council of the Assemblies of God, which will celebrate its 100

2525 anniversary this year; and
2626 WHEREAS, members of the Tennessee District Council of the Assemblies of God
2727 congregate at Cornerstone Assembly of God Church in Madison, where individuals and families
2828 thrive together and trust that God will bless homes, churches, establishments, businesses,
2929 governments, and classrooms across the State; and
3030 WHEREAS, the Tennessee District Council is under the leadership of District
3131 Superintendents James Spence, Andrew Hickman, Ira Smith, W.G. White, Homer Waddle, C.C.
3232 Crace, Earl Blythe, Gene and Jannette Jackson, Eddie and Amanda Turner, J.R. and Shirley
3333 Gould, and Terry and Susan Bailey; Assistant District Superintendents Gaylon and Mary Echols,
3434 Randy and Nancee Carter, and Randel and Darlene McCarty; and Youth Directors Terry and
3535 Samalee Allen, Jeremy and Michelle Austill, and Brooks and Brittany Till; and
3636 WHEREAS, Presbyters of the Tennessee District Council include Nick Serban, Todd
3737 Alexander, Ed Hawkins, Jason Yarbrough, Andrew Templeton, Danny Frizzell, Greg Temke,
3838 Tim VanDouser, Tommy Hall, Ronnie Sanders, Mark Kirkpatrick, Chris Moore, Nathan Kollar,

4343 Kenny McNatt, Steven Pickard, Ian Shaw, John Lawson, Tony Thompson, Victor Gomez, Sheila
4444 Harper, and Drew Moorehead; and
4545 WHEREAS, Pastors of the Tennessee District Council include James Hamill, Tom
4646 Lindberg, Maury Davis, and Mike Burnette, all of whom have surrendered to the divine call of
4747 God to be Pentecostal preachers; these leaders have recognized that the message of Christ is
4848 alive in the State of Tennessee and have gone forth in His power to set the captive free and
4949 heal the brokenhearted; and
5050 WHEREAS, the Tennessee District Council has stood on the rock-solid foundation of
5151 Christian belief, service, and love for 100 years, serving as a bastion of faith and outreach to the
5252 people of its community; and
5353 WHEREAS, thanks to the council's faith, leadership, and strength of its members, the
5454 Tennessee District Council of the Assemblies of God has persevered and continues to grow; it
5555 is truly one of the great religious institutions and catalysts for positive spiritual change in our
5656 State and nation, and the members of this exceptional congregation should be appropriately
5757 honored for their exemplary service to their fellow Christians and to the good people of
5858 Tennessee; now, therefore,
5959 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDRED
6060 FOURTEENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF TENNESSEE, THE SENATE
6161 CONCURRING, that we join in the celebration of the centennial anniversary of the Tennessee
6262 District Council of the Assemblies of God, thank the good people of its congregation and their
6363 ministers for their notable service to the Lord and the State of Tennessee, and wish them much
6464 continued success.
6565 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that an appropriate copy of this resolution be prepared
6666 for presentation with this final clause omitted from such copy and upon proper request made to
