<BillNo> <Sponsor> HOUSE JOINT RESOLUTION 655 By Grills HJR0655 007324 - 1 - A RESOLUTION to recognize the Tennessee District Council of the Assemblies of God on the occasion of its 100 th anniversary. WHEREAS, it is appropriate that the members of this General Assembly should pause to recognize those venerable religious institutions and their congregations that, through their unflagging capacity for love, dedication of spirit, and faith in God, enrich the lives of people in their communities; and WHEREAS, one such dynamic and historic community of faith is the Tennessee District Council of the Assemblies of God, which will celebrate its 100 th anniversary this year; and WHEREAS, members of the Tennessee District Council of the Assemblies of God congregate at Cornerstone Assembly of God Church in Madison, where individuals and families thrive together and trust that God will bless homes, churches, establishments, businesses, governments, and classrooms across the State; and WHEREAS, the Tennessee District Council is under the leadership of District Superintendents James Spence, Andrew Hickman, Ira Smith, W.G. White, Homer Waddle, C.C. Crace, Earl Blythe, Gene and Jannette Jackson, Eddie and Amanda Turner, J.R. and Shirley Gould, and Terry and Susan Bailey; Assistant District Superintendents Gaylon and Mary Echols, Randy and Nancee Carter, and Randel and Darlene McCarty; and Youth Directors Terry and Samalee Allen, Jeremy and Michelle Austill, and Brooks and Brittany Till; and WHEREAS, Presbyters of the Tennessee District Council include Nick Serban, Todd Alexander, Ed Hawkins, Jason Yarbrough, Andrew Templeton, Danny Frizzell, Greg Temke, Tim VanDouser, Tommy Hall, Ronnie Sanders, Mark Kirkpatrick, Chris Moore, Nathan Kollar, - 2 - 007324 Kenny McNatt, Steven Pickard, Ian Shaw, John Lawson, Tony Thompson, Victor Gomez, Sheila Harper, and Drew Moorehead; and WHEREAS, Pastors of the Tennessee District Council include James Hamill, Tom Lindberg, Maury Davis, and Mike Burnette, all of whom have surrendered to the divine call of God to be Pentecostal preachers; these leaders have recognized that the message of Christ is alive in the State of Tennessee and have gone forth in His power to set the captive free and heal the brokenhearted; and WHEREAS, the Tennessee District Council has stood on the rock-solid foundation of Christian belief, service, and love for 100 years, serving as a bastion of faith and outreach to the people of its community; and WHEREAS, thanks to the council's faith, leadership, and strength of its members, the Tennessee District Council of the Assemblies of God has persevered and continues to grow; it is truly one of the great religious institutions and catalysts for positive spiritual change in our State and nation, and the members of this exceptional congregation should be appropriately honored for their exemplary service to their fellow Christians and to the good people of Tennessee; now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTEENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF TENNESSEE, THE SENATE CONCURRING, that we join in the celebration of the centennial anniversary of the Tennessee District Council of the Assemblies of God, thank the good people of its congregation and their ministers for their notable service to the Lord and the State of Tennessee, and wish them much continued success.
