<BillNo> <Sponsor> HOUSE JOINT RESOLUTION 667 By Hemmer HJR0667 007300 - 1 - A RESOLUTION to recognize the Barbara J. Mapp Aviary Education Center at Radnor Lake on its tenth anniversary. WHEREAS, opened in 2015, the 550-foot boardwalk and aviary complex at Radnor Lake State Park, known as the Barbara J. Mapp Aviary Education Center, is the epicenter of the Tennessee State Parks birds-of-prey programming, offering park visitors a unique opportunity for unparalleled education programs; and WHEREAS, constructed as a boardwalk, nestled in the natural area, the wheelchair- accessible facility allows "up close" observation of non-releasable birds of prey and a bird's-eye view of the surrounding hillside and wildlife; and WHEREAS, through a public-private partnership with the State of Tennessee, these non-releasable birds of prey, designated as education animals due to permanent injuries, are housed and cared for at Radnor Lake State Park; and WHEREAS, Radnor park staff participate in training four times each year, conducted by Wings to Soar, to improve the park staff's knowledge, handling skills, and care of these birds of prey and provide the highest level of care for the park's captive wildlife and high-quality interpretive birds-of-prey programs for the public; and WHEREAS, there are seven non-releasable birds in residence at the Barbara J. Mapp Aviary Education Center: a great horned owl, a red-tailed hawk, a vulture, a golden eagle, and three bald eagles; all of these birds of prey live in their own habitat, customized to provide for their individual needs and to offer protection; and - 2 - 007300 WHEREAS, for ten years, the Barbara J. Mapp Aviary Education Center at Radnor Lake has been delighting and edifying visitors of all ages while offering a safe, comfortable environment for the amazing birds of prey who call Radnor home; now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTEENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF TENNESSEE, THE SENATE CONCURRING, that we recognize the Barbara J. Mapp Aviary Education Center at Radnor Lake on the occasion of its tenth anniversary, extending our best wishes for its continued success. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that an appropriate copy of this resolution be prepared for presentation with this final clause omitted from such copy and upon proper request made to the appropriate clerk, the language appearing immediately following the State seal appear without House or Senate designation.
