2016 BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF TENNESSEE:
21-SECTION 1. Tennessee Code Annotated, Section 57-4-102, is amended by adding the
22-following as a new subdivision:
23-( ) "Downtown district" means the central area or main business and commercial area
24-of a home rule municipality in a county having a population of not less than one hundred
25-thirty-three thousand (133,000) and not more than one hundred thirty-three thousand one
26-hundred (133,100), according to the 2020 or a subsequent federal census, as designated by
27-the legislative body of the municipality;
28-SECTION 2. Tennessee Code Annotated, Section 57-4-203(d), is amended by adding the
29-following as a new subdivision:
30-(8) Notwithstanding another law, a municipality having a downtown district, as defined
31-in§ 57-4-102( ), may set the hours that licensees within the downtown district are authorized
32-to sell or give away alcoholic beverages.
33-SECTION 3. This act takes effect upon becoming a law, the public welfare requiring it. PASSED:

17+ SECTION 1. Tennessee Code Annotated, Section 57-4-304(a), is amended by deleting
18+the language "may extend for not to exceed thirty (30) days" and substituting instead "may
19+extend for not to exceed forty-five (45) days".
20+ SECTION 2. This act takes effect upon becoming a law, the public welfare requiring it.
