AN ACT to amend Tennessee Code Annotated, Title 68, Chapter 120, relative to
standards for roofs.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF TENNESSEE:
SECTION 1. Tennessee Code Annotated, Section 68-120-101, is amended by adding
the following as a new subsection:
(/) The roof solar reflectance and thermal emittance requirements of the
International Energy Conservation Code for low-sloped roofs do not apply to the 2021
International Code Council adoption.
SECTION 2. The state fire marshal is authorized to promulgate rules to effectuate this
act. The rules must be promulgated in accordance with the Uniform Administrative Procedures
Act, compiled in Tennessee Code Annotated, Title 4, Chapter 5.
SECTION 3. For the purpose of promulgating rules, this act takes effect upon becoming
a law, the public welfare requiring it. For all other purposes, this act takes effect July 1, 2025,
the public welfare requiring it. HOUSE BILL NO. 801
