13	13	A RESOLUTION to confirm the appointment of Billy Bryan of
14	14	Shelby County to the State Textbook and
15	15	Instructional Materials Quality Commission.

17	17	WHEREAS, Tennessee Code Annotated, Section 49-6-2201, provides for the creation of
18	18	the State Textbook and Instructional Materials Quality Commission; and
19	19	WHEREAS, Tennessee Code Annotated, Section 49-6-2201(a)(1)(C)(ii), provides that
20	20	the governor shall appoint a teacher or instructional supervisor in the upper grade subjects,
21	21	grades nine through twelve (9-12), to the State Textbook and Instructional Materials Quality
22	22	Commission; and
23	23	WHEREAS, Governor Bill Lee, acting pursuant to Tennessee Code Annotated, Section
24	24	49-6-2201(a)(1)(C)(ii), has appointed Billy Bryan of Shelby County as a member of the State
25	25	Textbook and Instructional Materials Quality Commission for a term that expires June 30, 2027;
26	26	and
27	27	WHEREAS, for the past twenty-five years, Mr. Bryan has served as a teacher at
28	28	Millington Central High School, where he has taught such courses as economics, advanced
29	29	placement macroeconomics, advanced placement human geography, and contemporary
30	30	issues; he holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in History and a Master of Arts degree in Teaching
31	31	from the University of Memphis; and
32	32	WHEREAS, Tennessee Code Annotated, Section 49-6-2201(b)(1), provides that each
33	33	appointed member shall be confirmed by joint resolution of the General Assembly upon
34	34	recommendation of the Education Committee of the Senate and the Committee of the House of
35	35	Representatives having jurisdiction over such matter; now, therefore,

40	40	BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTEENTH
41	41	GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF TENNESSEE, THE HOUSE OF
42	42	REPRESENTATIVES CONCURRING, that we hereby confirm the appointment of Billy Bryan to
43	43	the State Textbook and Instructional Materials Quality Commission for a term that expires June
44	44	30, 2027.
