A RESOLUTION to confirm the appointment of Billy Bryan of 
Shelby County to the State Textbook and 
Instructional Materials Quality Commission. 
 
WHEREAS, Tennessee Code Annotated, Section 49-6-2201, provides for the creation of 
the State Textbook and Instructional Materials Quality Commission; and 
WHEREAS, Tennessee Code Annotated, Section 49-6-2201(a)(1)(C)(ii), provides that 
the governor shall appoint a teacher or instructional supervisor in the upper grade subjects, 
grades nine through twelve (9-12), to the State Textbook and Instructional Materials Quality 
Commission; and 
WHEREAS, Governor Bill Lee, acting pursuant to Tennessee Code Annotated, Section 
49-6-2201(a)(1)(C)(ii), has appointed Billy Bryan of Shelby County as a member of the State 
Textbook and Instructional Materials Quality Commission for a term that expires June 30, 2027; 
and 
WHEREAS, for the past twenty-five years, Mr. Bryan has served as a teacher at 
Millington Central High School, where he has taught such courses as economics, advanced 
placement macroeconomics, advanced placement human geography, and contemporary 
issues; he holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in History and a Master of Arts degree in Teaching 
from the University of Memphis; and  
WHEREAS, Tennessee Code Annotated, Section 49-6-2201(b)(1), provides that each 
appointed member shall be confirmed by joint resolution of the General Assembly upon 
recommendation of the Education Committee of the Senate and the Committee of the House of 
Representatives having jurisdiction over such matter; now, therefore,

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTEENTH 
GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF TENNESSEE, THE HOUSE OF 
REPRESENTATIVES CONCURRING, that we hereby confirm the appointment of Billy Bryan to 
the State Textbook and Instructional Materials Quality Commission for a term that expires June 
30, 2027.
