A RESOLUTION to confirm the appointment of David Watson to
the board of trustees of the University of
Tennessee.
WHEREAS, Tennessee Code Annotated, Section 49-9-201, provides for the governance
of the University of Tennessee by the board of trustees; and
WHEREAS, Tennessee Code Annotated, Section 49-9-202, provides that the governor
shall appoint ten members to the board of trustees of the University of Tennessee; and
WHEREAS, Governor Bill Lee has appointed David Watson to the board of trustees of
the University of Tennessee for a term that expires on June 30, 2030; and
WHEREAS, a third-generation Tennessean, David Watson is a co-founder and co-owner
of Mountain View Auto Group, which operates seven dealerships in the Chattanooga area; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Watson is a 1973 graduate of the University of Tennessee; he has
previously served the State as a member of the Tennessee Fish and Wildlife Commission; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Watson brings valuable experience and knowledge to the board of
trustees; and
WHEREAS, Tennessee Code Annotated, Section 49-9-202, provides that each member
appointed by the governor to the board of trustees of the University of Tennessee shall be
confirmed by joint resolution of the General Assembly; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTEENTH
GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF TENNESSEE, THE HOUSE OF
REPRESENTATIVES CONCURRING, that we hereby confirm the appointment of David
Watson to the board of trustees of the University of Tennessee for a term that expires on June
30, 2030.
