1313 A RESOLUTION to confirm the appointment of Lucas Hilliard to
1414 the standards recommendation committee for
1515 English language arts.

1717 WHEREAS, Tennessee Code Annotated, Section 49-1-312, creates a standards
1818 recommendation committee for English language arts; and
1919 WHEREAS, Tennessee Code Annotated, Section 49-1-312(a), provides that the
2020 governor shall appoint four members to the standards recommendation committee for English
2121 language arts; and
2222 WHEREAS, Governor Bill Lee has appointed Lucas Hilliard to serve on such committee
2323 for a term that expires on December 31, 2025; and
2424 WHEREAS, an educator since 2019, Mr. Hilliard teaches at White House High School in
2525 Sumner County, where he has taught English II, English III, AP English Literature and
2626 Composition, AP English Language and Composition, AP Seminar, and AP Research; and
2727 WHEREAS, he is a 2016 graduate of Vanderbilt University and holds a master's degree
2828 in education from Union University; and
2929 WHEREAS, Tennessee Code Annotated, Section 49-1-312(b), provides that all
3030 appointments to the committee "shall be subject to confirmation by the senate and the house of
3131 representatives"; now, therefore,
3232 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTEENTH
3333 GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF TENNESSEE, THE HOUSE OF
3434 REPRESENTATIVES CONCURRING, that we confirm the appointment of Lucas Hilliard to the
3535 standards recommendation committee for English language arts for a term that expires on
3636 December 31, 2025.
