12	12	A RESOLUTION to recognize and commend FFA national
13	13	champion Nate Mason.

15	15	WHEREAS, we take great pleasure in recognizing those outstanding young scholars
16	16	who have distinguished themselves as emerging leaders in Tennessee's agriculture industry;
17	17	and
18	18	WHEREAS, one such individual is Nate Mason, who recently claimed victory as the
19	19	national champion in the National Agriscience Fair Animal Systems Division 3 at the ninety-
20	20	seventh National FFA Convention and Expo in Indianapolis, Indiana, a most befitting honor that
21	21	recognizes him as one of the most talented young people in this State and nation; and
22	22	WHEREAS, Future Farmers of America, now known as FFA, was organized in 1928 to
23	23	promote leadership, personal growth, and career success among high school agriculture
24	24	students; and
25	25	WHEREAS, Mr. Mason and nine of his fellow classmates from Cocke County High
26	26	School attended this year's FFA convention and expo, attending workshops, speaking with
27	27	colleges and universities about career opportunities, and earning a National 3 Star Chapter
28	28	Award for their good work; and
29	29	WHEREAS, the son of Julie and Anthony Mason, Nate Mason is the first-ever national
30	30	champion for the Cocke County FFA; for his competition project, he conducted tests to show
31	31	how environmental factors, such as light, temperature, and humidity, affect the growth rates of
32	32	chickens; and
33	33	WHEREAS, his first study was conducted over a forty-two-day period, and he wrote a
34	34	research manuscript detailing the results; he bested all others in state-level competition to make
35	35	it to the national round; and

40	40	WHEREAS, for many years, FFA has played an important role in ensuring the growth
41	41	and prosperity of agriculture in Tennessee and the nation by expertly molding our future
42	42	leaders; and
43	43	WHEREAS, the success of this State, the strength of our communities, and the overall
44	44	vitality of our society depend, in great measure, on the dedication of our students and our
45	45	agricultural innovators, who will ensure Tennessee continues to lead the nation in agricultural
46	46	production for generations to come; now, therefore,
47	47	BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTEENTH
48	48	GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF TENNESSEE, THE HOUSE OF
49	49	REPRESENTATIVES CONCURRING, that we honor and recognize FFA national champion
50	50	Nate Mason, wishing him much success in his future endeavors.
51	51	BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that an appropriate copy of this resolution be prepared
52	52	for presentation with this final clause omitted from such copy and upon proper request made to
53	53	the appropriate clerk, the language appearing immediately following the State seal appear
54	54	without House or Senate designation.
