<BillNo> <Sponsor> SENATE JOINT RESOLUTION 223 By Haile SJR0223 005115 - 1 - A RESOLUTION to congratulate Westmoreland High School on being named a 2023-2024 Reward School. WHEREAS, it is fitting that we should pay tribute to those public schools in Tennessee that, through the natural talents and unflagging commitment to academic excellence evidenced by their administration, faculty, staff, students, and parents, have achieved significant milestones; and WHEREAS, Westmoreland High School is one such school that was recently honored as a 2023-2024 Reward School by the Tennessee Department of Education, the top distinction a school can earn in Tennessee; and WHEREAS, Reward Schools are recognized as the top schools in this State based on academic achievements and by meeting annual measurable objectives across performance indicators and student groups; and WHEREAS, Principal Rick Duffer and the administration, faculty, and staff of Westmoreland High School have built an environment that ensures students have the very best atmosphere for learning; and WHEREAS, Westmoreland High School's selection as a Reward School is a tremendous source of pride for the administration, teachers, students, and parents of the community; and WHEREAS, the dedication to academic excellence demonstrated by all the fine individuals affiliated with Westmoreland High School is clearly deserving of the respect, admiration, and commendation of this body; now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTEENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF TENN ESSEE, THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES CONCURRING, that we congratulate Westmoreland High School on - 2 - 005115 being named a 2023-2024 Reward School, salute the school's administration, faculty, staff, students, and parents on this prestigious honor, and extend to them our best wishes for continued success in the future. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that an appropriate copy of this resolution be prepared for presentation with this final clause omitted from such copy and upon proper request made to the appropriate clerk, the language appearing immediately following the State seal appear without House or Senate designation.
