<BillNo> <Sponsor> SENATE JOINT RESOLUTION 310 By Walley SJR0310 006068 - 1 - A RESOLUTION to honor the memory of Edward Gaylon Herron of Brownsville. WHEREAS, the members of this General Assembly were greatly saddened to learn of the passing of Edward Gaylon Herron of Brownsville; and WHEREAS, Mr. Herron was an exemplary gentleman and consummate professional who worked assiduously to improve the quality of life for his fellow citizens in numerous capacities; and WHEREAS, born in Haywood County on April 15, 1958, to Danny Joe Herron and Peggy Jean Taylor Herron, Mr. Herron served his community for over forty years with his farming and trucking operation; and WHEREAS, wishing to aid his fellow citizens in an even greater capacity, Mr. Herron was a faithful board member and volunteer firefighter at the Belle Eagle District 7 Fire Department, where his efforts maintained the safety and security of his neighbors, and while he could, he annually volunteered his time and talent at the Brownsville Tractor Pull; and WHEREAS, a man of refined leisure, Mr. Herron was an accomplished outdoorsman who relished duck hunting with his uncle, the late Jerry Alan Taylor, and he had a passion for football, listening to Haywood High School Tomcat football every Friday; and WHEREAS, Mr. Herron married his beloved wife, Patricia, in 1979; their union was blessed with two daughters, and the Herrons enjoyed a bucolic existence in the Bethel community, often vacationing in the Great Smoky Mountains; and WHEREAS, Mr. Herron was a family man of unmatched quality, and whether he was cultivating a garden with his mother or supporting his daughters' athletic endeavors, he always did his utmost to ensure that his tender devotion was apparent; and - 2 - 006068 WHEREAS, preceded in death by his father, Mr. Herron is survived by his mother, Peggy Jean Herron; his brother, Ronald "Ronnie" Wade (Doris) Herron; his wife, Patricia Harmon Herron; his two daughters, Emily Herron (Patrick) Littlejohn and Maggie Anne Herron (James Harris); his dear friend, Tracy Young; a multitude of nieces; two nephews; a great-niece; many great-nephews; and his kidney donor, Elisha Poole (Jeremy) Channell, whose gift provided Mr. Herron over twenty more years of cherished life; and WHEREAS, Mr. Herron leaves behind an indelible legacy of integrity and probity in public life, compassion and loyalty in private life, and diligence and dedication in all his chosen endeavors; and WHEREAS, it is fitting that the members of this General Assembly should pause to remember the bountiful life of this exceptional public servant and human being; now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTEENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF TENNESSEE, THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES CONCURRING, that we honor the memory of Edward Gaylon Herron, reflecting fondly upon his impeccable character and his stalwart commitment to living the examined life with courage and conviction. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that we express our sympathy and offer our condolences to the family of Mr. Herron. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that an appropriate copy of this resolution be prepared for presentation with this final clause omitted from such copy and upon proper request made to the appropriate clerk, the language appearing immediately following the State seal appear without House or Senate designation.
