A RESOLUTION to honor and commend the Greenfield Lady
Yellowjackets girls' basketball team upon
winning the 2025 TSSAA Division I, Class 1A
state championship.
WHEREAS, it is fitting that this General Assembly should salute those student athletes
who, through their extraordinary efforts, have distinguished themselves as true champions of
whom we can all be proud; and
WHEREAS, one such exemplary group of lasses is the Lady Yellowjackets girls'
basketball team of Greenfield High School, whose members have proven themselves to be the
fiercest of competitors and truly worthy of admiration by winning their second TSSAA Division I,
Class 1A state championship in 2025, having previously won it all in 2018; and
WHEREAS, in post-season play, the Lady Yellowjackets stung Humboldt 52-32, bested
Union City 41-37, and defeated Dresden 54-48 to claim the Region 7-1A title; and
WHEREAS, Greenfield then proceeded to roll over University High School of Memphis
67-46 in the sectional round to gain entry into the promised land of the state tournament; and
WHEREAS, playing in the Class 1A state tournament at MTSU's Murphy Center, the
Lady Yellowjackets defeated North Greene 44-39 in the quarterfinals and then vanquished
Richland 47-40 in their semifinal match-up to advance to the final; and
WHEREAS, facing Van Buren in the title game, Greenfield prevailed 49-46 in a close
contest to win the Gold Ball trophy that signifies a state champion, finishing the season with a
remarkable 30-6 record; and
WHEREAS, each of these young ladies holds Greenfield's small-town traditions close to
her heart and is proud to be a Lady Yellowjacket; the team members include Kylee McNeil, Ella
Porter, Brenley Little, Ashlyn Bryant, Jayleigh Bowers, Rayanna Fisher, Arabella Turnbow,

Kensie Garner, Madilyn Paschall, AnnaGrace Abernathy, Madelyn Coble, Jolie Lunsford, Jerica
Montgomery, Adlee Sullivan, Jayne Long, Campbell McCallister, Mary Katherine Moore, Emma
Capps, and Callie Harrington; and
WHEREAS, Greenfield's superb performance would not have been possible without the
expert guidance of Head Coach Tori Liggett and her assistant coaches, Alyse Darby, Don
Durden, John Liggett, and Tara Tansil, and the unfailing support of the players' families, their
fans, and their close-knit community; and
WHEREAS, the members of the Greenfield girls' basketball team epitomize all that is
good in today's student athletes, as they have achieved a premier level of success in
competition while exhibiting the highest degree of character in all aspects of life; and
WHEREAS, the perseverance, determination, work ethic, and talent of this group of
young women not only made possible a championship season but also surely bode well for their
future success; and
WHEREAS, the members of this General Assembly find it appropriate to acknowledge
and applaud the Greenfield Lady Yellowjackets for their outstanding season on the hardwood;
now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTEENTH
GENERAL ASSEMBL Y OF THE STATE OF TENNESSEE, THE HOUSE OF
REPRESENTATIVES CONCURRING, that we honor and commend the members of the
Greenfield Lady Yellowjackets girls' basketball team upon winning the 2025 TSSAA Division I,
Class 1A state tournament, applaud their seven consecutive victories to claim the state
championship, and extend to them our best wishes for every continued success in all their
future endeavors.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that an appropriate copy of this resolution be prepared
for presentation with this final clause omitted from such copy and upon proper request made to

the appropriate clerk, the language appearing immediately following the State seal appear
without House or Senate designation.
