1212 A RESOLUTION to honor and commend David Hale for his
1313 meritorious service to the State of Tennessee.

1515 WHEREAS, it is fitting that the members of this General Assembly should pause to
1616 specially recognize those estimable public servants who have dedicated themselves to
1717 improving the quality of life for their fellow citizens; and
1818 WHEREAS, David Hale is one such estimable person, who evinces the greatest integrity
1919 and probity in all his chosen endeavors; and
2020 WHEREAS, a 1974 graduate of Castle Heights Military Academy, Mr. Hale initially
2121 served Wilson County Civil Defense, now Wilson County Emergency Management (WEMA), as
2222 a volunteer before joining the team as a permanent staff member; and
2323 WHEREAS, during his tenure with WEMA, David Hale was an instructor for the fire
2424 academy and was afforded opportunities to participate in a variety of emergency services; and
2525 WHEREAS, Mr. Hale rose through the ranks at WEMA, and in 1982, he was promoted
2626 to deputy director; in 1993, he became the director of WEMA, in which position he served with
2727 distinction until his retirement in 1999; and
2828 WHEREAS, a respected and trusted leader, Mr. Hale returned to work in 2001 as a
2929 judicial magistrate for Wilson County, serving his community with acumen and alacrity before
3030 taking his much-deserved retirement from that role in May 2017; and
3131 WHEREAS, a gentleman of many talents and interests, David Hale founded his DJ
3232 company, HAWK Specialty Services, alongside his best friend, Sondra Winfree, in 1999; and
3333 WHEREAS, the pair started off with two speakers and an amplifier purchased from a
3434 pawn shop, and now, HAWK Specialty Services can be found from St. Louis, Missouri, to

3939 Tampa, Florida, providing DJ services, live sound for fairs and festivals, casino entertainment,
4040 and sound for professional events, among many additional services; and
4141 WHEREAS, an accomplished member of his community and his profession, Mr. Hale
4242 served the board of directors of Wilson County Promotions, or the Wilson County Fair, and as
4343 chairperson of the Independent Midway Committee; and
4444 WHEREAS, he is also a member of the State of Tennessee Ride Safety Board, the
4545 Tennessee Association of Fairs, the Independent International Showman's Association, the St.
4646 Louis Showman's Association, the International Bluegrass Music Association, the Mt. Juliet
4747 Chamber of Commerce, and the Lebanon Wilson County Chamber of Commerce, among
4848 numerous other boards and organizations; and
4949 WHEREAS, his professional accomplishments aside, Mr. Hale is most grateful for the
5050 love and support of his wife, Lanah; and
5151 WHEREAS, the success of the State of Tennessee, the strength of our communities,
5252 and the overall vitality of our society depend, in great measure, on the dedication of people such
5353 as Mr. Hale, who use their considerable talents and resources to serve others; and
5454 WHEREAS, David Hale is wholly committed to the noble precepts of public service that
5555 have earned Tennessee recognition as the Volunteer State, and he should be specially
5656 recognized; now, therefore,
5757 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTEENTH
5858 GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF TENNESSEE, THE HOUSE OF
5959 REPRESENTATIVES CONCURRING, that we honor and commend David Hale for his indelible
6060 contributions to Wilson County and the State of Tennessee and extend to him our best wishes
6161 for much continued success and happiness.
6262 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that an appropriate copy of this resolution be prepared
