A RESOLUTION to honor and commend David Hale for his 
meritorious service to the State of Tennessee. 
 
 WHEREAS, it is fitting that the members of this General Assembly should pause to 
specially recognize those estimable public servants who have dedicated themselves to 
improving the quality of life for their fellow citizens; and 
 WHEREAS, David Hale is one such estimable person, who evinces the greatest integrity 
and probity in all his chosen endeavors; and 
 WHEREAS, a 1974 graduate of Castle Heights Military Academy, Mr. Hale initially 
served Wilson County Civil Defense, now Wilson County Emergency Management (WEMA), as 
a volunteer before joining the team as a permanent staff member; and 
 WHEREAS, during his tenure with WEMA, David Hale was an instructor for the fire 
academy and was afforded opportunities to participate in a variety of emergency services; and 
 WHEREAS, Mr. Hale rose through the ranks at WEMA, and in 1982, he was promoted 
to deputy director; in 1993, he became the director of WEMA, in which position he served with 
distinction until his retirement in 1999; and 
 WHEREAS, a respected and trusted leader, Mr. Hale returned to work in 2001 as a 
judicial magistrate for Wilson County, serving his community with acumen and alacrity before 
taking his much-deserved retirement from that role in May 2017; and 
 WHEREAS, a gentleman of many talents and interests, David Hale founded his DJ 
company, HAWK Specialty Services, alongside his best friend, Sondra Winfree, in 1999; and 
 WHEREAS, the pair started off with two speakers and an amplifier purchased from a 
pawn shop, and now, HAWK Specialty Services can be found from St. Louis, Missouri, to

Tampa, Florida, providing DJ services, live sound for fairs and festivals, casino entertainment, 
and sound for professional events, among many additional services; and 
 WHEREAS, an accomplished member of his community and his profession, Mr. Hale 
served the board of directors of Wilson County Promotions, or the Wilson County Fair, and as 
chairperson of the Independent Midway Committee; and 
 WHEREAS, he is also a member of the State of Tennessee Ride Safety Board, the 
Tennessee Association of Fairs, the Independent International Showman's Association, the St. 
Louis Showman's Association, the International Bluegrass Music Association, the Mt. Juliet 
Chamber of Commerce, and the Lebanon Wilson County Chamber of Commerce, among 
numerous other boards and organizations; and 
 WHEREAS, his professional accomplishments aside, Mr. Hale is most grateful for the 
love and support of his wife, Lanah; and 
 WHEREAS, the success of the State of Tennessee, the strength of our communities, 
and the overall vitality of our society depend, in great measure, on the dedication of people such 
as Mr. Hale, who use their considerable talents and resources to serve others; and 
 WHEREAS, David Hale is wholly committed to the noble precepts of public service that 
have earned Tennessee recognition as the Volunteer State, and he should be specially 
recognized; now, therefore, 
 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTEENTH 
GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF TENNESSEE, THE HOUSE OF 
REPRESENTATIVES CONCURRING, that we honor and commend David Hale for his indelible 
contributions to Wilson County and the State of Tennessee and extend to him our best wishes 
for much continued success and happiness. 
 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that an appropriate copy of this resolution be prepared 
for presentation with this final clause omitted from such copy and upon proper request made to

without House or Senate designation.
